I just can't believe that a giant seller like the GC (= biggest music gear seller on the planet) wouldn't know that the mics are from China. That's hard to imagine.
I assume that they must have ordered directly from China -- but why would a store put its reputation on the line for such a...
Yes, the Hamburg sounds German (U67), while the Vienna sounds Austrian (AKG C12) :p I wonder how the Area51 sounds -- like an UFO??
Do you believe all that crap manufacturer tell you? ;)
I went to my local Guitar Center today (Rockville, Md). They ran out of the Oktavas, but said that they can order them in no time for the same price:
MC-012 $69.-
MC-012 matched pair: $145.-
MKL-2500 $99.-
I am tempted to either get the matched pair or the 2500. On the other hand, what would I...
Panels are looking good!

Thanks for your replies.
The thread, however, is already rather old (1.5 years). In the meantime I have bought a Future Retro Revolution and a MOOG Rogue, among other things.
I enjoy watching MTV cribs too, hoping that I might see a studio.
Have you seen the "Ozzy Osborne" show last year on MTV? There's a hillarious episode where he builds a multi-$100,000 recording studio in the basement of his house. Each time someone enters the studio Ozzy shouts
"DON'T TOUCH...
