I don't think you need to mimic the song by Counting Crows, but work on the mix so it "sits" better with the listener

It's the type of beat I could listen to for hours while driving, that being said, I would like to hear a melody on top of what you have. What you have I would call the backing stuff, just add a nice melody on there (I would say in the range of female voice) and you are ready to go

How about removing the vocals and concentrating on the instruments. The depth (reverb), placement (panning) and volume all need to be addressed. Tighten up the mix

I listened to Project Studio and the midi sounds are horrible. The intro on Black Enterprise is VERY cool Good start, the idea is there, but the sounds need to be worked on. You need to get yourself some better quality samples. Just my $0.02

I hear WAY to much reverb on the drums. Were they mic'd far away or did you add this effect later?

I like the roughness to it. It sounds like you are playing live is a seedy bar somewhere. Really nice! The only thing I would like to see is more treble. Everything seems so mid-y

If you can do scene memorizing then I could "program" it while the song is not playing. As long as I can change the volume levels and eq in certain parts of the song (even if it isn't while playing) that would be OK I wouldn't be able to buy the 2488 if I couldn't do this. Then I would have...

I am looking at the 2488, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find anywhere how you go about changing the volume or eq at different parts in a song. Surely the 2488 must have scene memory to memorize fader and eq settings, so that you can bring the guitar up during the solo and the push it...

Looks like this thread is going to turn into a "Oh, the days of analogue" thread:D The one thing about tracking to tape and using analog everything is motorized faders. The desks that did have it were/are very expensive and from what I hear very loud. How do you guys mix on big analog boards...
