    Quick vocal question...

i think this may be your problem, you copied the same track and panned it l64 and r64 Jay-z is notorius for his doubled vocals, that means that he does two takes and pans the first take l64 and the second r64. If you pan out the same exact same track twice, all you have is mono

    recording/music theory type question

actually i pretty much understand what both of you are saying, because what I didnt really think about before is that the same summing that occurs at the microphone is probably almost exactly the same summing that occurs at the ear. When I did a search on google, I read that a huge amount of...

Appropriate Amp Volume when micing a cab?

Andy Sneap, though I dont know who he is, is absolutely right. When the gain is high, you overdrive the amp so much (that is how distortion is achieved, setting the gain until it "clips" a whole lot), that it naturally compresses the shit out of the signal. When you let of the gain a little, you...

    second hard drive

yes you can, you go to options->global and then go to the folders tab, and set it for a folder on your 80gb hardrive also, you should plug in the harddrives such that the main system drive and audio drive are on different ide channels. The system can only access one device per channel at any...

    Another T-Racks post!

is there a reason that wavelab or that stereo editor that soundforge makes is any better for mastering than the mulitrack software you would use for mixing?

why does a mono source SOUND BETTER PANNED?

try panning a snare drum, if you think it sounds worse than its gotta be a pyschological thing

why does a mono source SOUND BETTER PANNED?

i seem to notice that too, but only on distorted guitar, it seems more boxy when its in the middle, even a small pan makes it sound better to me maybe its just a psychological thing that im so used to guitars being panned, that it actually sounds better to me

    recording/music theory type question

The other day my math teacher, in introducing trigonometry, started talking about sine waves in music. He was saying how different instruments sound different because the sine waves they create are each distorted in a different way (as in mishaped). But I *know* thats not true, because last year...

    Nu-Metalish Mixing

for some reason my post was horribly worded, in case it wasnt clear, no more than 3db below 0 at 20hz, or "the bottom" on the graphs in most parametric eqs. And a sharp cut, but still probably no more than 3 dbs at about 90hz to let the kick come through the bass .

My song ---> ON THE RADIO!

I got my first radio airplay, dec 30th at about 11:10 on WLIR's Tri State Sound. I have to give huge thanks to everyone here for their recording guidance. I'll be posting some samples so everyone can critique my mix before it becomes final, as soon as I get a new mobo and get my new DAW...

    Nu-Metalish Mixing

unfortunately, my recording system is down until I get a new mobo, but it seems like the deep lows of the bass guitar are the problem, try gently cutting from like 100hz down on the bass, probably not more than at about 20 hz 3db. And then try cutting sharply at about 90 or so hz to let the bass...

    Ozone II

YES Dithering makes all the difference. Plus in the multi-band compressor it shows how much gain reduction is going on which is my favorite new feature.

Motu installation Locks up the Computer

When I try to install the pci-324 card, windows Xp recognizes the hardware, installs the gsif driver, then recognizes hardware again and trys to install the wave driver (which I need). Just as the progress bar finishes up the system locks up, and I mean dead stop, the mouse wont move, not the XP...

    Amazing!!!!! Check It Out!!!

to clear it up a little more, cep does very little, "intelligent" editing, it just flips the phase of one side and acoustic theory takes over
