    Anyone seen this?

Cost? How about starting at 24 big ones for the 24 track version, and starting only at 38 big ones for 48 tracks! Right in my price range!!!!!!

Has anyone ever heard of MTU

I literally stumbled over this internet site which provides integrated PC based DAW's. The claims on the site are too good to be true. Has anyone ever heard of them? I have corresponded by e-mail to them so far and they have been extremely responsive --same day or next day responses. They're...

Advice needed on purchase studio monitors

PS v. 2020bas It's interesting to compare the PS's and the 2020bas, since their specs are essentially identical except for 1) the amplifier wattage going to the LF and HF cones and 2) the crossover point. I imagine the difference in their sound must be attributable to the cross-over since the...

Advice needed on purchase studio monitors

I also AB'd the PS-8's and the 20/20's and noticed a difference. I could not tell what the "truer" sounding speaker was, although they both did sound excellent (not awesome). Buck 62: why did you get the 20/20's over the PS8s?

    NS-10's, Monitor 1, or CM-80

Go with the NS10M's. The hands down better speakers. I believe that the nominal impedance on the Yamahas is 8 ohms not 4. See: http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi.exe/Specs/?gUPS00008NS10MS Great listenings!@ AlinMV

Do all Amps sound the same?

Thank you sonusman. I should clarify that the term "awesome" meant to describe the clarity and detail of the sound reproduction!

Do all Amps sound the same?

I settled on the Yamaha NS10M's for my home set up, and would like to buy an amp which won't break the bank but will get the best out of these awesome speakers. (I know, I read the posts about the Event monitors, etc. . .) I just like the Yamaha's. Any advice on such an amp in the $200 - $300...

Advice needed on purchase studio monitors

The Alesis M1 Actives are $499 and are recommended for a small studio application. You could look into the Tannoys, Events and KrK's but you'll be spending more than your budget. Good Luck

    HD recorder ---------------> HD recorder?

I was wondering if I can "slave" two different brands of HD recorders, and if so, where would I do the mastering? Would I need to master on a third device? Thanks for all the help!

    HD Recorders v. Computer-based

pglewis: Thanks for the advice. You're right! I need to do a lot of research which I have been doing for about 1.5 years now. I am still about 3-6 months away from making any purchase. I do appreciate your input especially since it's clear you've been around the block a few times. Thanks again.

    HD Recorders v. Computer-based

pglewis: Thanks for the $.05 opinion. I do appreciate your points. What set up would you suggest at that price? I am wide open to suggestions. I hope to continue recording well beyond five years from now. I know what you're saying about stand alone HD recorders being a dead end, but, I...

    HD Recorders v. Computer-based

Adam Thanks for the advice. I am really leaning toward a stand alone recorder, just to get some practice. And you're right, someday, after I get some dirt under my fingernails, maybe I'll upgrade to a computer system.

    HD Recorders v. Computer-based

Thanks for the info. I am leaning toward a HD stand alone only because I am not very well versed in the technical aspects of software interfacing, etc. Don't want the headaches of making sure that everything that I buy (software and hardware) fit together. The flip side is (as you said Adam)...

    HD Recorders v. Computer-based

I need some input on whether to purchase a stand alone HD recorder or a computer based system. I would want to buy the most powerful yet user friendly system within my price range of about $3,000 including back up and CD burners. I am an amateur keyboard player (and not a techie) but sound...
