    PCIe or Firewire???

I know you were and your points are all valid. I have the luxury of both a new MacBook Pro and a G5 PPC (1st generation). The tower performs at a much higher level. But as you say- if portability is a criteria, then the decisions become more complicated.

    M-Audio Delta Cards & PCI Express (PCI-X)

My M-audio Delta 1010lt was PCI-X out of the box and has worked flawlessly in my G5 since day one. What do mean "there was a bug in the old G5s and they did not work at all in them. I beg to differ, but that is absolutely false.

    Soundtrack Pro and Firepod Help

I would suggest going through the manual of LE and the firepod. It really will answer most of your questions.

    Soundtrack Pro and Firepod Help

It does have full recording and multitracking capabilities and does it very well. It goes well beyond using loops. It just does not seem to have the capability to record more than one track at a time.

    Soundtrack Pro and Firepod Help

I use Sountrack that came with final Cut Express. I do not believe it is made for recording multiple tracks at once. It's purpose is for creating or adjusting video soundtracks which generally do not require more than one track at a time recording capability. If someone knows more about the pro...

    The Ventures...Pioneers or Hacks

I saw them in concert in the early eighties. Hacks is an insult to the kick arse music they made. They were fantastic live. Did they write their own songs- sometimes (Nokie Edwards wrote Surf Rider- which is on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack), but mostly they made versions of songs that were...

OSX (GarageBand) or XP (Cubase SE)?

I didn't say I use it, only answered the original question which you must have read a lot more into than I did. Peace bro!

OSX (GarageBand) or XP (Cubase SE)?

I don't recall anyone except you mentioning "professional" results. He asked a simple question. I answered according to the criteria he set forth.

OSX (GarageBand) or XP (Cubase SE)?

Those camparing GarageBand to moviemaker and sound recorder have absolutely no idea what their talking about. Use it! You'll probably like it and get a clue as to why its so popular. http://www.icompositions.com

    IMac G5 Garage Band Recording

Amped6- I was not trying to be snide or brush you off, but you asked for what amounts to a complete crash course on home recording using GarageBand. Most of us don't have time to write out all your requests. There really is a ton of information about that program on the web. The Apple site has...

    Tough decision...

Read what I said- the 833mhz G4 has 3rd party processor upgrades- that was my only point. Geez you take exception to every point someone make whose trying to help you. Bottom line- your probably not going to run Logic 7 very well with either machine you have talked about. We have all...

    Tough decision...

Stable-yes. Powerful enough- barely meets the minimum requirements which is a nice way of saying dont bother. Keep in mind if you get the 833 mhz G4, its processor(s) can be upgraded down the line. I personally love Logic Express. I switched from Cubase SE because of stability problems (I know...

    Tough decision...

If you want to change to a Mac, why a G4? It is a perfectly good processor, but not in the same league as a G5. I'm not trying to complicate your decision, but if you are serious about changing to Logic, I highly recommend a G5 PPC, or iMac (PPC or Intel) or wait for the Intel Powered Mac Tower...

7200 rpm's on an older imac?

I have an iMac DV 700mhz and it was the last crt iMac model. I upgraded it to a 120gb Seagate 7200 rpm. Just to clear up one point- all G5 iMac models have 7200rpm as standard.
