    Buy the extra ram from a vender like Crucial.com, not Apple. I'm not saying that one gig is not useable but it will limit you. And yes I know that money is generally an issue for most of us.

    Kevin- bought a set of MXL 993's from MF about a year ago. They sound very good on acoustic instruments. I was wondering what the difference is between them and the 603s you use. :confused:

    Yes, but that is because of my personal preference for Logic. Dp is well thought of. I only mentioned GB as I did not know how much experience you already had. Best wishes.

    Digital Performer is good. I really would take a look at Logic though. To really "ease" yourself in, play with GarageBand for awhile.

    You actually could seriously consider Mac OSX It is as stable for me as the claim of many on this thread about XP. Good system, good audio applications and hardware. Just a thought- please don't flame me XP folks, my opinion is as valid as yours.
