    Perhaps now the... ADAT

Why not check out spirit boards, they are probably a way better alternative to mackie than behringer. And you won't have to deal with behringer customer service.

    Minidisc Recording

Ok, so I WAS thinking of getting an ADAT and a mixer, but I just don't have enough money for that. So, I'm thinking that the MD8 would be a good solution, I realize there is quality loss due to compression, but I think I'll live through it. Are there any other digital multitracks out there under...

Thinking of building a studio, need some opinions...

I would start out doing some free sessions for friends to get the feel of your studio, and to get used to recording bands, then start charging for your services. I learned soooo much my first time in a project studio. Have fun!

    Mixers...

I've been eyeballing Spirit mixers for the longest time (the FX-8 and SX in perticular) and I would have to agree, the FX series looks pretty damn appealing. I will probably be going to test one out Nov 18 (They aren't sold anywhere near where I live). I'll post a review if you'd like.

    Spirit boards

Im thinking of buying a Spirit FX8 for my future 8 track setup. Does anybody on this BBS use spirit mixers? The reason im thinking of going with Spirit is cuz a Mackie board with 8 mic inputs is way more expensive.

    8 track digital

If you want a serious digital 8-track, I'd go for an Alesis Adat. For $1600 you can get 8 tracks at 20 bit. The best part is that it uses S-VHS video tapes, so and hour more space is like 5 bucks... waaaaaaay less than hard disk recording.

    Armoured Cables

Its every ones favourite hour of the day! Yeah, thats what I was thinkin, try em out and see. Just wanted to know if there were any glaring probs with em. I'm hoping that they will last forever cuz I hate buying new cables every couple of months. I should check out monster cables... yes, check...

    That't good if....

I agree, CD's are waaay better, you just need to save up and buy a burner. I wouldn't bother getting an expensive high-speed one, just get a good 4X if you want to save money, they burn a full cd in 15 minutes.... its fast enough for me!

A Cheap Way of copying demo tapes

just make sure that you make every tape from the original, cuz high speed dubbing rapes the sound quality quite a bit (even on my good laser amourphous head deck), but if you're lookin to make a lot of tapes its probably the best way to go.

    Armoured Cables

Just a quick query on Armoured (steel covered) mic cables. I'm thinkin of buying some and since they cost quite a bit more than regular cables i just thought i'd try and get peoples opinions on em. Are they a pain in the ass? Do they actually last longer than regular cables?? thanks..

    good distortion?

Ok, so I can't find that review, but I will tell you what I know about both products. The V-Twin and TriAxis are NOT made to work together, they both do the same things, but they go about them differently. Both are preamps, both have tubes, and both can be used as DI boxes. You can also get...

    good distortion?

Found it.... In my 2001 Guitar and Bass Buyers guide they have the list price for the V-Twin as $299US. I've seen it at local guitar stores, thats probably your best bet, any guitar store that sells boogie stuff should order it for you. The triaxis is supposed to be killer, I have a review for...

    good distortion?

You know what you should check out? You could check out the Mesa Boogie Triaxis and V-Twin. Mesa Boogie tone in a box that you don't need to spend $1200 for. You also wouldn't have to kill your ears pumpin a Mesa through a recto 4x12 cab cuz you can either run it into the amp you've got now or...

    Preamps

Audio Buddy Has anyone out there tried the Midiman Audio Buddy? Its fairly inexpensive so I'm not expecting a whole lot of quality but if there are any glaring shortcomings I would like to know about them.

Yamaha MSP10's I'm wondering if Yamaha's twisted logic applies to their new MSP10 powered monitors.... anybody tested these monitors? I'm thinking of getting them when i get some cash and no where near here sells em, so I'm just wondering if they are worth checking out.. later.
