I would hardly call the MXL 990 shitty, though it's not amazing. It's the mic i started with, and while it has its own sound and a bit of a limited use, it can be great for some things. I kind of like it on hihats, or as a mono drum overhead, and on some people's voices. Nice stuff, sounds...

yeeeeeeah..... they use the same shells and hardware as just about every other custom builder out there. i will have to agree on their finishes being cool though.

that kick is SO meaty. i like it. the kick, sadly, could come down a bit though, and the toms could come up a bit.

audix d6 is my personal favorite.

try boosting it a bit in the highs. i absolutely LOVE the music though. right down my alley.

the only cymbals i've ever cleaned were given to me by a friend, and were only cleaned because they came out of a house fire. i allow my cymbals to gather a little dirt, gives 'em character.

well i can record dry and monitor wet with any interface in mackie tracktion 2 and 3, but that's because tracktion ALWAYS records dry, and monitors that with whatever effects you put on that particular channel.

I use 7a's, hit HARD, and play metal and punk and havent broken a stick in a few months now, though i have one that i think is about to go. It's all in how you hit 'em. I keep my drums pretty flat and low, just angled enough that i'm not hitting the rims, though i'm normally hitting rimshots on...

the flaw i see is that you will probably never play anything exactly and perfectly the same twice. so the bleed from each mic probably wont sound very good.

Well I use Tracktion 2, and would like to know if it will handle 2 usb control surfaces at once. There are 2 different behringer models (i know but they dont affect sound) that i would like to run simultaneously (one with faders and buttons, one with all knobs.

i for one am a bit of a punk so it's not that here. I would suggest possibly throwing the amp in a hallway and doing the vocals in the room or vice versa. You could also find a way to build a box to isolate the amp.

i usually just use a little on the snare, to breathe a little life into it, but other than that nope.
