The NTK -> RNP/RNC is my exact same set up. I use SP C4s for the acoustic guitars though but love the NTK for vocals. I have some very amateur samples if you'd like. Don't anything about the Mackie so I can't answer your question. I think you'll like the NTK with the FMR stuff.

The NTK has been working very nicely for me. I can only compare it to the AT4040. While I like the AT a lot, I favor the NTK for my voice. I don't plan to sell it but the AT4040 will probably go soon since I really only need once LD condenser mic.
