Kainz,
You rock! Your playing sounds so natural, like you're not even trying all that hard.
I am not worthy! I am not worthy!
I'm not sure if skill like this can be taught but if it can, can someone please teach me? :)
This is exactly what I need. Will print this and keep it next to the RNC. I'll try these settings tonight. I'm thinking about doing an all acoustic version of T.Petty's "Learning to Fly."
Thanks very much, Tim.
Thanks for the compliment, Tim. You always have a way of making newbs like myself feel good about our chosen hobby.
Croce and JT are the reasons why I picked up the guitar.
I'll try with different mic positions and distances next time. I still have no idea how to work the compressor (RNC) so...
Click on the first one that says New York. I'm obviously no solo guitar player but I tried on this one. I know it's not great but it was fun.

The NTK -> RNP/RNC is my exact same set up. I use SP C4s for the acoustic guitars though but love the NTK for vocals. I have some very amateur samples if you'd like.
Don't anything about the Mackie so I can't answer your question. I think you'll like the NTK with the FMR stuff.
Question from a curious amateur. Would you consider this recording (first one called CH) to have an inferior sound quality to what you're hearing with the Pelusos?

The NTK has been working very nicely for me. I can only compare it to the AT4040. While I like the AT a lot, I favor the NTK for my voice. I don't plan to sell it but the AT4040 will probably go soon since I really only need once LD condenser mic.
Great advice, guys. I'm taking this all in by heart. Thanks very much.
I've already started asking around and it seems like my son's ex-teacher (he'd rather play basketball than the guitar for now) is one of the most highly recommended in my area. I'll check out another one and will make a...
Thanks Kainz.
Your solo is one of my faves. It reminds me of a Chris Isaac (spelling?) song. Very soulful and full of feel. Wish I can play like that with my eyes closed.
I am printing your whole response so I can go to triads, scales, intervals and the other things you're talking about. Now...
Purge, your explanation is excellent for me. It's clear and to the point. Now I get it. Thank you very much. I admire Gilmour's song in itself technique. Malmsteen's is amazingly fast and there's now way my ears can catch up. I really should learn scales.
Do you mind clarifying "rhythm" as...
I listened to your classical playing and MAN, I wish I play half as good as you do. I can listen to you all day long.
Master Lawler you are but be carefull with what you say around here! I just might believe you. :D
I really need to get serious with taking lessons.
How much do you charge? :D
Sorry for the delay. I promised my 7 year old that I'd spend time with him so we watched a movie and hung out at a book store. I'm a widower and single fatherhood is a full time job.
Anyway, here is my quick take on this rumble. I call it "lo-fi" down at the very bottom.
Dislcaimer: I've only...
Back from Sunday morning activities.
Brett, I have no earthly idea how to do what you recommended. What can I say? I'm an idiot when it comes to stuff like this.
I've recorded the background track already and will start recording my virtuoso solo in a few minutes. Watch out everyone.
Travis,
Now I really am hesitant to post because I know you'll be greatly dissapointed.
I found the addendum to my DPS manual and discovered that you can load a wav file into the machine but it seems like this can only be done if the source was DOS formatted. Aside from being a guitar newb, I...
