    Connections for Tascam MSR-16

What mixer(s) specifically can be used with an MSR-16 in this manner? I recently had a PSU scam happen and I'm likely going to sell the M3500 mixer that came with the deck because it's just too much for me. I'm a singer songwriter that builds things up as I go. Can summing boxes like ones...

388 User Leveling up to M3500

So it looks like I bought a scam off eBay and I'm going to have get rid of the M3500 at a discount since I don't have a PSU. Once I get refunded the $1K (it's been 7 months + of waiting with nothing from GRS Systems) I need to decide on a board that can interface with the MSR-16S Anyone have recs?

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

Could the problem still be a dirty record head? I haven't done a cleaning with pads yet, and I may have been being too precious with the Q-tip cleaning over the years.

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

How does head relapping work? Can I just unscrew the headstack and send it to JRF? It's like $200 right?

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

I can certainly live with the burned out bulb. Is their a thread you can point me to on the card swap?

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

Hey y'all. The tape flip made Track 8 play weak and 1 play strong. Which is a good thing correct? I'm now into the card seating/swapping territory? There is also a burned out bulb on one of the VUs I'd like to sort out if I'm going to be opening her up. Thanks all

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

Hi Guys, I'm in the studio today, but the main goal is too complete acoustic treatment. Still, I took some photos of the R/P head (I think) with the flashlight Dropbox - IMG_20181110_145110.jpg Dropbox - IMG_20181110_145033.jpg I also tested and confirmed the signal comes out weak from the...

Thanks guys. Ill try all this stuff later after work. sweetbeats - no reason not to just go ahead and do the FFWD RWD before a more diligent cleaning with the pads?

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

Hey Sweetbeat. Tried the lifting up and it certainly didn't bring Channel 1 clearer. Sort of hard to know whether I'm doing it right however. I'll try testing the Tape Outs later. I have to dig up some RCAs to 1/4 for this. I feel like maybe this is something I live with. What is the Rx if this...

388 User Leveling up to M3500

HAHAHA Yeah I know how to solder. I did all my mic cables when I first got into this. The difference is now I have a job and a family... Out of curiosity (and for others who may come across the thread or wiring up an ancient beast like this) where would you buy the bulk cable from? Also, what...

Well, that's just about the best offer I think I'm going to receive. Problem is I moved back to CA in April. I'll update my profile. What if I paid you shipping/handling?

Channel 1 on 388 Repro at Half Volume

So...never had a single issue with my 388...until I moved it across country and back. Now the first channel repros at about half volume compared to the other tracks. Is this an alignment issue? It was in a storage space up on its side for a while.

Alan, have you ever tried processing like this (form the Brauer post another user linked to) using the Groups on the M3500?

388 User Leveling up to M3500

I also just found this out from Gearslutz: A lot of old reverbs and processors are really always mono input. Many ( NOT ALL) will sum the stereo input process it and create a stereo chorus or effect. Very few can I think of processed a stereo input in stereo. The main reason ( OFTEN NOT ALWAYS)...

Ok that's helpful. I think you are meaning it's De-normaled But would love for others input, since there are four ways to set the DBX-PB48 "I have a TRS cable connecting the channel inserts to the patch bay" -- That's from the back of the mixer to the back of the patchbay? "Then I use 1 TRS...

Ok. Thank you to everyone who reviewed and chimed in. I'll post an update once I get the PSU and cables to set everything up. Alan, maybe I'll be shipping this deck to you for scraps...who knows.

Thank you Sweatbeats for that primer. I wish the start of the M3500 manual was as clearly stated. Gary, the patchbay is a 48 point 1/4" TRS https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PB48--dbx-pb-48 I don't see those cables by using the "cable finder" system on Sweetwater, but I'll give them a...
