Well actually, Greg did mentioned that headphone mixers are the reason why homerecording is going down to shit. If that doesnt mean that he meant headphone mixes are enourmously inferior to monitor ones, then maybe I misunderstood him.

I dont say headphones are better to mix. It is just a way for those who cant afford monitors or prefer to use headphones. Its different than amp sims...amp sims simulate what actually doesnt exists...

I guess a lesson we can all take from this thread is: It doesnt matter what the medium is...what matters is how a good the mix can be, no matter what tools used.

Thing is, I hate when someone says "This is not how music should be made" like they are some kind of superior on the subject. Headphones or no headphones the main thing should be how to make music with your own adversities and not about "well I dont have proper equipment to make music...guess...

I agree with you. I really dont intend to glamourize "amateur" methods of mixing. Its just my view on the subject.

I'll just leave my opinion here and maybe some of you will hate it. But I have to agree with Nola...I've heard people's mixes that are mixed with monitors and they sound awful. I do mix with earbudds most of the time and I'm not ashamed of doing so, because I dont have money now to buy a good...

I would also go for the NT1a because it is a very versatile mic. But maybe you should look for videos on youtube and pick the one which pleases your ears and then it will all come into learn how to use the mic for your specific conditions.

Look man, the RE20 is widely used not only for recording...but for radio work as far as I know (there is a major radio show here ir Brazil which the lead reporter uses this mic). Thing is...the other mic you mentioned is a USB mic, so you dont really need an audio interface to record anything...

Well, it did reduced the gain a little...but I can still use it on acoustic guitar as you can see. Maybe for a whispery vocal or something similar it can be a pain in the ass...IDK, I'll test it. I agree with Simman...and I did loved the sound I'm getting out of this mod!
