Failed For You - More sappy crap

Completely agree. Compressed it a bit more, and scooped out sub/lower frequencies. It was one of the garageband analog synth patches. A little hard to tame, but it sounds pretty cool I think. In fact, all the organ/synth sounds are garageband instruments. Uploaded a new version. Thanks for...

Failed For You - More sappy crap

Here's a new one, very much in the vein of the last few I've done. Pretty sappy, be warned. Would love to know what you guys think of the song/mix. What can I do to improve it. Does it suck/does it not? Spent two days with it, so I really can't tell. Lyrics are a bit cliched, but oh well. It's...

    Gameshow

Jeff, this sounds nice. Maybe the bass could use a little more low end, and maybe come up a tad in the mix. The panned percussive instruments sound way cool! The drums sound great as well, though I'm not hearing a kick anywhere, but I'm guessing that it's not supposed to be there. The guitars...

A new song from an old(ish)-timer.

Wow...old timerish huh? I'm ancient then:eek: This sounds really very good. Considering. The vocals and guitar take center stage here, so the other musical elements really don't distract from the song, at least in my opinion. So the song is kind of poppy, kind of punky, and very catchy. Kind of...

    sugaree

Yep, much better - frequency wise. Did you re-record the vocals? The performance sounds different, not sure, but it sounds much better - maybe it's the added frequencies. Also, the hi-hat sounds more natural buried down in the mix. Still love the guitars. One thing, I'm not sure the reverb is...

    Work in progress... pop punk

I'm listening to the new mix. This is super slick. Some of the most polished stuff I've heard on the board. Sounds really good. Your drummer is obviously influenced by Travis Barker, and he sounds very good. Sounds like a Blink 182/Yellowcard/AGI thing. Hate the finger tapping in the guitar...

man, you get some seriously great sounds of your tascam multitrack. Bass guitar especially sticks well to cassette. First off, sounds nice and thick. Guitars sound great. Solo sounds very much in tune to the Bob Weir style. Bass sounds great. Vocals could maybe use a little bit of upper low...

Has this melody line been done before?

Sounds like Staind. Same formula, kind of the same vocal style, drum fills, etc. "It's Been a While" would be a good example of this formula, and would be the closest thing that this reminds me of in particular. Since you're asking, that's who I would say.

    Latest classical track

Wow, this is really beautiful. The mix sounds great. Everything is well balanced, the strings sound lush, and the vocalist has a great voice. This is way out of my league, so I hesitate to comment. Truly beautiful.

And now for something completely different. Well not really

I agree with Greg, the walking piano thing does stand out a bit too much. This is cool. I like the energy alot. It reminds of a song I remember form the 80's. It was an instrumental, don't remember who did it, but in the video there's a little girl who says "HEY" everytime it comes up in the...

I've come to the conclusion that a studio sound is only found in ... a studio

I've been recording at home for years. I started with 4 track tape recorders, then switched to my DAW and used Sony Acid, then went back to cassette recording and went through a period of buying lower end hardware to supplement my cassette multitrack (lxp, fmr, alesis), and last year switched...

Thanks Chris. This song has been an eyeopener. I don't have a favorite, but the first one works really well with headphones:D

Original Halloween Song - A Ghost Story

Thanks alot Jeff. Makes sense. Will keep that in mind if I remix. BTW, it's a classical guitar. Also, the main vocal has a bit of slap reverb on it. Thanks Matt. I appreciate it. It's a classical guitar. Rodriguez C1 to be exact.

    Lunar Waves

I dig the delayed guitars. I like all the guitars actually. The whole thing does have a slightly 80's vibe to it. This really needs vocals on top of it to make it. The vibe is very cool. The recording sounds great! But, it would take some vocals to make be play it over and over again, still I...

    80's metal ballad revisited

Listened twice: Wow, there's a lower frequency that's totally ringing in a bad way on my monitors. I would try and find that frequency and bring it down. The drums, especially the toms, sound really hollow, and maybe ring a bit too much. There's also a crash in there that's not sounding to...

an old song finally finished, but...

I think the song sounds a bit generic, but it's not too bad. The recording however, sounds like a cassette tape that's been played alot. Honestly, just re-record it. Start fresh. I think the song would benefit from it. Sometimes you just gotta start from the beginning.

Would love to hear what you think of this original,...

It is a nice clean recording. I love the quick little guitar runs. The drums and bass could use some variation though, just to spruce things up a bit. Some vocals would be cool too. The mix sounds real good though.

Original Halloween Song - A Ghost Story

Thanks for listening guys. Interesting to see people liking both versions for diferent reasons. Propman, based on your music, I would have guessed you would like the 1st version better. You experiment alot with your music as well. For those of you who prefer the bare bones version, I have a...
