What do you think about mastering before producing an mp3? The obvious advantage: it sounds better. The disadvantage: any critiques I get from people won't reflect my recording skills as much as they would if I didn't have the music mastered.

Where can I find a cover for my FD-8? I want to keep it dust-free as it thus far has collected its fair share of the stuff. I've heard of companies that make covers, but I have yet to figure out who they are.

I just typed a long response and lost it somehow and I'm gonna die if I write it all again, so here's the boiled-down gist of it. The FD-8 is cool. I love mine. You can only record two tracks at once (though you can use the mixer to boil all eight mics down to two tracks, like for drums)...
