cant play too well when standing

I agree, give up looking at the strings. How else are you supposed to make eyes at the hot little rockabilly chick while you solo? If you have that much trouble playing without looking, practice in the dark.

    rate my lyrics please?

the why do we bear line is the only thing that bothered me. Otherwise I think its good stuff. All dependent on music of course, but I think there's a good song to be found here.

    Singing Lessons?

Figured there was no better place for this thread than songwriting. Has anyone taken vox lessons? Any advice on how to find a good teacher in my area? Not that its terribly important at the moment, I won't be able to take lessons for the next 10 months, but just wondering nonetheless

    Should lyrics rhyme???

It all depends on the song. Sometimes rhyming works, sometimes it doesn't. My favorite song (Third Eye Blind's "Motorcycle Driveby") doesn't rhyme at all. Other faves do. I guess all I'm saying is, you can pull good stuff off without rhyming.

    lyrics of a ghost

Likewise, the pissed his pants line doesn't really fit, I don't think. Maybe a different way of saying the same thing would work better?

what do you think of these lyrics?

I agree with the above about those lines being out of place. the word "screwed" just doesn't fit and seems like a forced rhyme to me. In general It sounds like the rhymes are rather chased, as though the rhymes are dictating lyrics rather than vice versa. The first two lines of the last verse...

    Strengthen the pinky

Keeping your pointer and middle fingers on the 5th and 6th frets, respectively, of the 5th string, play the 7th and 8th fret of the 6th string with your ring and pinky finger. You can do this with any combination of fingers for "finger independence." Be warned, its rather tough and often a...

I agree with the above wholeheartedly, and will refrain from repeating his good advice and insight.

    Bandzoogle?

I would try a different font. The images for the page look professional, the text looks really homepagey.

    Album art?

I'd just try to get in good with some graphic design college art kid. A friend of mine used to do work for free because she had to build up a portfolio to use as a pro designer/illustrator. I mean, you might not be so lucky as to get someone willing to do it for free, but you'll probably meet...

what do you think of these lyrics?

Without meaning to offend, I must agree with the above. Most lines seemed very "songy" cliches chosen for rhymes.

    stuck on shitty songs

You could listen to songs that aren't about heartbreak, try writing a song about something arbitrary, like some current event. Try writing down a list of song titles about things that have nothing to do with your typical topics, then pick one title and try to write the song.

I have songs for sale!! - Check out my storefront.

I think the colors mix well enough. I dont think I'd notice much of a difference if I was casually viewing your site. I think that the CD logo for every song is a little tedious. I would use different pics for each song or axe the pics altogether. Otherwise it looks great.

The singer of my band writes terrible lyrics (with examples)

I'd have to agree that they are rather cliche. How long has he been writing for?

    Can't focus on songwriting

Guess you can try these ideas Personally, I like the "special place" for songwriting method. I don't have one place in particular, but I personally like small coffee shops, starbucks, any sort of lounge really. Being in college, I frequent the school student union (Which incidentally also...
