Thank you for taking the time to post all that! I am going to re-read and get to work! Re-recording isn't an option, so I need to work with what I have!
I'm not limited to 4 inputs, I am using an M-Audio Ultra8R. But I wanted to try and keep it simple and they wanted to have a guitar & bass AND vocal guide track while laying down the drums, so I needed 3 inputs for those scratches.
4 Mics, Glynn Johns method. Senn E602 on the bass drum, SM57 on the snare and an AT2035 as the overhead over the snare and an AT3035 as the other overhead behind the drummers right shoulder around the floor tom.
Ok, here are a couple of MP3's The first one is normal and the second has the kick and snare replaced

Ok, not sure where I should have posted this, but anyways...
I just recorded my first band the other night. I offered my services for free to get some experience which I obviously need way more of!! but regardless, we got some decent tracking done and are pretty happy with everything.
However...
I ended up using a M4 x 1/2 and it worked perfectly!! And yeah the DMP3 is just a little too tall to fit nicely in one rack space... not sure what M-Audio was thinking when they designed it!
This unit is in perfect, like-new condition and works perfectly. From a smoke-free studio. Comes with power supply, all manuals and USB cable. You can record your band with 8 mic pres and 8 more line inputs, or you can use it as a mixer for a live show setting. There are loads of fx you can use...
I'm trying to mount my M-Audio DMP3 on a rack shelf and I'm having problems finding the right screw size to thread into the hole on the bottom of the DMP3.
Anyone know what size I need? I've tried a standard rack screw and also a 6-32 I had around, neither works.
Any help would be greatly...
I used a M-Audio Fast Track Pro with Windows 7 64Bit with no problems with Reaper. Upgraded to an M-Audio Ultra8R and still no problems.
like others mentioned perhaps it's your DAW software?
I am set to record my first real band including drums next week!! I'm pretty excited but at the same time, really nervous about recording the drums!
I have 7 inputs to work with for recording the drums as I plan to use my 8th input for either scratch guitar or bass for the drummer to play...
I rent a space downtown in the city I live in for my Photography Studio, I have full access to the basement under the studio and I've thought about transforming it to a budget recording studio. I don't have a lot of money to put it to this, so just wondering if a room like this could work at...
Does the M-Audio Ultra 8R have enough pre-amp gain to drive an RE20? I've been thinking about getting an RE20 myself, but I've read you ideally need about 60db of gain on tap? And the Ultra 8R only have 54 Db. Is it true you need that much gain to drive the RE20?
