    Oxygen Free Mic Cable Question

Hey, an old thread with S8-N--one of the original, pre-cave members--and he was being relatively nice. I wonder what that toad fellating MOFO is cooking these days.:D

Oh jesus help me buy a mic please

Forget USB. Your existing soundcard will sound better. You can buy an inexpensive 2-channel mixer with phantom power and a headphone amp for $50. Buy a single condenser for for less than $50. I happen to think the Naiants are a great bargain. Later you can buy an additional mic and record...

    Guitar amp modelers

Just curious, what 8" speaker is in that amp? What does it excel at? Asking because I will be looking for an 8" speaker soon and have no idea where to start--except the Weber website.

Cheap Matched SDC Condensers for Acoustic Guitar?

No personal experience with the AT 4041, but it has earned quite a reputation. You could probably find the studio pack for $400 if you look hard enouigh. I'll bet I could walk into Guit Center and walk out with a pair (or have them on order) for $400...

Mic suggestions for acoustic guitar and voxs

mhilarious may have a point that because of the room size (and the fact that it is not square) you will be able to finds some spots that sound better than others. You will probably want to get a rug as well and try recording with and without it. Early reflections "will" be a problem...

Mic suggestions for acoustic guitar and voxs

I also would spend most of my $ on the room to make sure it sounds good--it is part of your instrument's original sound. Pick up a Naiant X-M ($70) or a pair of Naiant X-Q ($70) SDCs for the guit. For vox, with the $ you have left, buy the best LD condenser you can afford. There are plenty of...

    Which vocal/guitar mic?

I'd pick up one (or two) of the Naiants for the guit and keep the 57 for vox. You could also try the Naiants on vox. Here's the Naiant application index http://www.naiant.com/applicationmatrix.html

Calling guitar experts: Solid Wood acoustic guitars

Great guits but find either one for a price anywhere near $1,500 and you will witness a scene right out of "Jingle all the Way" with Arnold S. and Sinbad. It would get bloody!

Calling guitar experts: Solid Wood acoustic guitars

Larrivee D-03R (rosewood) will come in way under $1,500 You could probably find a used D-09 (rosewood) for around that $1,500 also. I've owned a Larrivee D-03 and a D-05--both mahogany dreads and both wonderful guits for the price.

    MXL v67g and v69

Here's a MK219 for $180. Have it modded later: http://www.economik.com/oktava/mk-219/ Or Buy a V67 now and have it modded later. Or try a Fat Head ribbon maybe: http://www.bayviewproaudio.com/FAT_HEAD_Ribbon_Microphone-p-22427.html Or buy one of the ribbon mics that Oktavamod.com offers...

    Preamp advice...

I think what you need is a different mic. Maybe an SM7, AT4047, modded Oktava 219/319, or even a ribbon mic.

    low-end recording equipment upgrade

I haven't heard the Mobile Pre, but IMO the EMU 1212 IMO would be a definite ADA upgrade, and the DMP3 would also be a noticable upgrade over the preamps in the MP.

Another gem for cheapies out there like me - Mitchell MD100SCE acoustic guitar review

These guitars (at least the newer ones) have solid tops. The back and sides are laminate. I bought one of these Mitchell MD-100s (not the CSE) two years ago as a group gift for beginning guit player--he had some POS he got off ebay that couldn't be tuned anywhere on the neck. I played the...

Is a mic and pre amp enough? Or should I upgrade the sound card

As Shadow mentioned, there are a lot of choices, and you need to decide what you need. Personnaly, I think you get better converters for your money with PCI soundcards. However, a lot of the USB or FW interfaces come with good converters, headphone amps, and mic preamps with phantom power--if...

    Help With Pre & Soundcard?

M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 or EMU 0404 PCI sound card would be a better choice than a cheap USB interface IMO. Both are only $100 each. There are some inexpensive recording programs that seem to be very popular, N-Tracks $64 (even has it's own forum here) and Reaper $50. So you can be up and...
