Well in my case, I bought my mic before I had an audio interface. But now that I have an audio interface I am fully capable of monitoring just as well as I could with an XLR mic. Which is part of the reason I haven't upgraded yet.

Ableton doesn't allow you to save in the demo versions which are fully functional aside from saving... 'lite' versions of ableton are packaged with some controllers and keyboards, the only stuff missing from these versions are sample packs which can be purchased or you can upgrade from a 'lite'...
