    Makeshift Vocal Booth

Wow!!! What a great idea!! Unfortunately, I may not even have the room for that... I'll take some measurements and see what I can figure out. Anyone else have any workarounds they use?

    Makeshift Vocal Booth

So, my studio is too small to build a vocal booth in, and unfortunately, the huge closet in the room is actually used as a closet so I can't build a booth in there either... Does anyone have any tricks to set up a makeshift vocal booth? I've been leaning a pillow up against the wall on a table...

    Small Ableton-specific task, paid

Cool sounds good!! The only project I have a deadline on right now is for early march, and that is for one track. I will try to get it done in a month for you. I will keep you posted on my progress. To be clear, you are just looking for the remix of the Zeppelin sample?

Questions about small home recording studio

Indeed I was referring to the MoPads, sorry for any confusion, and thank you jimmy. Also GIK, my fault... I meant to say that the tech specs differences are negligible NOT the same. What a difference one word can make. I have to agree that any company that claims the same exact specs as...

Questions about small home recording studio

It could be good, or horrible depending on your feelings about the NS10s. (more than you could ever want to know about them here The Yamaha NS10 Story) Perhaps they left a few zeros off and intended to compare them to the NS1000s... :) It doesn't necessarily have to be your room causing the...

Should I Buy a USB Microphone?

I'm using a Blue Snowball through USB into Ableton using core audio and out through my Mackie ONYX Blackbox to both monitors and headphones without noticeable latency. I guess it depends on what kind of setup you have, mostly the audio interface...

Should I Buy a USB Microphone?

Well in my case, I bought my mic before I had an audio interface. But now that I have an audio interface I am fully capable of monitoring just as well as I could with an XLR mic. Which is part of the reason I haven't upgraded yet.

Questions about small home recording studio

What monitors do you have currently? I originally bought these because I couldn't afford their 8'' bigger brother. I was originally worried about the low end response and planned to save up and get the LSR2338Ps, but I have been very impressed with the low end. So impressed that instead of...

Should I Buy a USB Microphone?

It's not true that you can't monitor using a usb mic, as long as you have an interface.

Questions about small home recording studio

Honestly, I'd wait a little longer and save up the money for the JBLs. If you are hell bent on getting monitors RIGHT NOW (which usually leaves you with buyers remorse later) and you decide to go with one of these cheaper options LISTEN TO THEM PERSONALLY FIRST!!!! Go somewhere and check them...

Questions about small home recording studio

In my experience the KRKs seem to boost the low end a bit... I am very partial to JBLs. The LSR2300 series are amazing monitors and very affordable. They are very flat and powerful. Honestly the best thing to do is go to a store with a cd you are very familiar with and listen to it on every...

    New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello!! I started out about 9 years ago recording my various bands and jam sessions with a tascam 4 track cassette recorder and a shure sm58 shielded by a folded up towel on the drum side. We actually put together some decent recordings which I then 'mixed down' and 'mastered' using soundforge...

    Mastering: The DIY Guide

word! Thanks for the info. I'm not too concerned with mastering at this point as I am just making beats and don't have anyone to do vocals for me so far, but I am always striving to learn as much as possible and trying to be as self sufficient as I can. My only major concern at this point is...

    Mastering: The DIY Guide

so you are inferring that there is no way to actually monitor for a precise output level say numerically track to track rather than just doing it by ear?

haven't been her a while, will you listen and tear my recording a new one?

i think it sounds pretty good, the only thing I would change is a bit of EQ and compression on the bass drum, sounds like the mic is inside it...

Setting Up USB Mic In Albelton 5 [Help]

plug mic into computer, start ableton, on your menu bar go to live>preferences select the audio tab, under audio device click the input device drop down, select your mic... I've never seen the VST error you are getting so I have no answer for that one, as for the crackles, how much cpu are you...

Caught out by trial period of Ableton!

Ableton doesn't allow you to save in the demo versions which are fully functional aside from saving... 'lite' versions of ableton are packaged with some controllers and keyboards, the only stuff missing from these versions are sample packs which can be purchased or you can upgrade from a 'lite'...
