NOT TRUE, Firewire(800) is faster than USB, but if you are also running another high I/O device such as a HD via firewire as well, then you are going to have issues!! Firewire's limited bandwidth is ok for just one high I/O device... Keep that in mind, if you are using firewire for anything...

They create a problem with the low end. Monitors are there to give us a flat true representation of what we are working on. The KRKs boost their low end and high end leaving them with scooped mids. Meaning, when you go to listen to your mix on another system it is going to be all midrange...

The mic is working if your mac is recognizing it, without a screenshot it is difficult to tell if you have something muted, or if another setting is not correct. Post a screenshot!
