I'm not saying that all components don't originate in the same production plants whether they are for PC or Mac. What I said was production MacPros are built with SERVER grade hardware not CONSUMER grade hardware. You CAN build a PC with the same SPECS as a MacPro i.e. processor SPEED, AMOUNT...
HAHAHA!!! Thanks I got that, but it is important to add, as sarcasm and dry humor get lost in typing translation... Never had the joys of a Ferrari, which was actually the comparison I was going to use, but have driven a Lambo... Very unstable under about 50-80 mph.
Back to the discussion...
How is build quality not useful or relevant?? This whole thread is ridiculous, the PC peeps can keep their Fiero with the Lambo body kit, I'll keep the Lamborghini...
Also, about the price difference see my above post...
There is a reason that things are cheaper for PCs. Sure you could build a PC with the same specs as any MacPro, as in same processor speed, amount of ram, etc... and the Mac will out perform the PC every time. The reason Macs cost more is because they use top of the line, non consumer grade...
I believe you are implying that you are wanting to use your 'synth' for all of your virtual instruments. When using a DAW, you don't really have to worry about this. They come with VST instruments, usually of pretty good quality. The ones that come with Ableton are very nice. I believe you...
Unless you're distributing digitally it really makes no difference. also, if you are using a mac I highly recommend the Mackie ONYX Blackjack. There are issues with it in windows I believe..
Cool, the push seemed like it was suited much more towards live performance to me, but then again so did the APC 40, which I've been using for mixing and arrangement and I love it. An MPC is inevitable as I am producing hip hop, and I don't think my MPD will keep me happy forever, but I haven't...
not quite sure what you mean, but if you have a good synth, it is going to sound just as good in ableton, plus ableton has some great soft synths included.
Thanks for your input music man... the 1k is actually more expensive than the studio at about $1k hahaha, the studio is a midi controller, which is nice because you no longer are at the mercy of the limited storage and processing power of your MPC (I doubt they will ever come out with a 3.2GHz 8...
Suite is going to be the best as far as including pretty much everything you could need sound wise, and based on everything you are getting it doesn't sound like you really have any budget issues, so go with suite...
I see you haven't decided on monitors yet, check out the JBL LSR series...
To add to what kid said, when you first install ableton, regardless of what version, there will be a sidebar with tutorials in it that range from beginner to intermediate. These will get you going very quickly, good luck man!!
the synth you can either run line in through an audio interface or run midi through a midi interface, machine I believe is usb, and a mic would be line in through an audio interface as well.
Is anyone out there using the MPC Studio? I was going to get a 1k, but then I saw the Studio is out. I would like to know what you think of it. I produce hip hop and have an MPD16 which I use for sampling and drums, is it worth the $600 to get those 'MPC sounds'?
Just some examples, the best thing I can say to 'advice' you would be quit spamming the forums and stay in school...

the canary flies by every month or so to ask vague questions and promote (previously himself) but apparently now his son on youtube. last time I believe he was 14??
when you first install ableton, on the right side panel there are tutorials you can go through that start out basic and then get more complex. If you do the first few, your question will be answered, use the tutorials, that is why they are included...
Yes, Ableton is offering a free upgrade to 9 if you purchase 8 before it comes out (you're running out of time) you can always just get regular live and just buy the sample packs (instruments and vst plugins) you need to keep it cheap. But as kid said, if you have the money go for suite, it is...
