new thread about my vocal problems

It's so cool and close I hate to even criticize! I certainly don't think the vox are too loud. I do think there's a SLIGHT bit of competition for the middle of the mix (as far as panning). I might try widening the stereo field of some of the instruments or repanning some slightly to make some...

    Interference to computer monitor

Another thought...Possibly if you turn the amp on first and then the monitor, the degaussing coil in the monitor will be able to demagnetize the problem that the amp first created. You will have to have the monitor off for a while so that the degaussing thermistor cools. This is a device that is...

    Interference to computer monitor

Probably what's happening is that when you switch on the amp and the power transformer energizes, it's creating a magnetic field and magnetizing the crt. Sort of like puting a magnet near the crt, which is not a good idea. If it's creating problems, my best advice is to move it.

    Switching Mic polarity

On either end of the cable, but only one end, switch pins 2 & 3 around. I'd also advise marking the cable so you know it's different to avoid phasing problems by grabbing the cable by accident.

Quick and easy question for anyone w/ 100w tube amp

Vaccum tubes work on a principle of voltage gain while solid state works primarily on a principle of current gain. The schematics I looked at were 100W tube guitar amps. Solid state amps will generally draw more current for the same power output.

    My old amp

You can still get 12 gauge speaker wire, just with 1/4" ends on it. Any good music store should have this.

    Sample Rate

It's probably not going to be a HUGE issue unless you do a lot of processing to the track.

    Wiring problem...

Does the tone control do what it's supposed to otherwise? (Besides the problem at the end of it's rotation). In other words, does it affect the tone or is it acting like a second volume control?

Quick and easy question for anyone w/ 100w tube amp

I just looked at some various schematics for 100w guitar amps, and most are from 1-3 amps. Some solid state current driven amps may draw more, but still not that much. Sorry 'bout my first response. I figured you had at least one amp to help get you close. I've run an entire P.A system and light...

    SM-57 vs SM-58

Another little known fact about the SM57 & SM58 is that they have a natural presence peak about 6-8khz because they were initially designed to work with the Shure "Vocal Master" system which had no high frequency drivers.

Quick and easy question for anyone w/ 100w tube amp

It's possible I don't quite understand your question, but there seems to be a lot easier way to do this. Just look at what the amps are fused at (main fuse)? 50 amps should be plenty for the amps. I don't know of many 100w amps that are fused at 12 amps. :D

editing and mastering vocals onound forge?

There's no specific "process" for anything. You must use your ears and edit the track(s) accordingly. No 2 vocalists are the same. No 2 microphones types are the same. Did you compress to track? What are your levels like? Is it a male or female singer? Get the idea? I would recommend that you...

    Louder! When Will It End?

Anyone heard the new Rush CD? It makes me sick. Don't get me wrong...I like the band, but the guy responsible for mastering that should be shot! It's "squashed" so hard there's audible distortion. They might as well have run the final mix through a guitar amp with the gain on 10...(er, maybe...
