You should be able to go into bios and 'tell' the computer to boot from CD. The Win 98 CD should then boot and give you install options.

What software are you using to play the CD's? If it's a newer Window's Media Player, it doesn't use the CD in on the sound card. Maybe you don't have DMA enabled for your CD rom? Just guessing without knowing what OS, what software to play CD's, etc. etc.

Not much to say here. Great job! The only very tiny thing I might do is make the drums a little wetter. I think a bit more reverb might make them sit better in the mix. That's just my preference though. Maybe that's the sound you were after.

Maybe you have an impedance mismatch or a level problem. Are you going into a line level input?

Do you hear the noise if you monitor the phones out of the Pod?

Not that familiar with the digi001. It might be a more expensive way to go though. I think you could get the Layla EXP pretty cheap if you can find one.

Over all good mix. The only thing I could say is bring the snare up and more up front in the mix. It seems a bit lost. Maybe the other drums also (not sure about that part). The cymbals and hat sound ok...just the drums. Guitar sound is cool (very thick). Good work!

It's been my experience that MOTU products do not work as well with PC's as Macs. Also, when you buy a PC you'll have a lot easier time if you get a mobo with an intel chipset. Lots of people have had a tough time getting the Via chipsets to work with pro sound cards. I'm not saying it can't be...
