Just wondering if anyone knew of any way of connecting a turntable that requires earthing to a hi=fi system with no earthing connection.
At the moment, I am connecting the turntable to a mixer which then feeds into the aux in of the system. I just wondered if there was a away of bypassing...
Trust me, you can't plug this site hard enough. It really is unbelievable for me cos i'm a musician having to get into the engineering side deep now cos i'm buying more and more equipment.
To get this info I used to have to
1. Ask the engineer when i'm at the studio session
2. Ask the store...
How do I use the parametric eq on my mixer also what is 'Q' and how do I use it?
Do the eq bands on a mixer relate to specific frequencies? I ask because I keep seeing articles where you're advised to boost or cut at a certain frequency range, but I don't know where to find these frequencies...
ahh... a Y cable, that's the missing link! So the same insert acts as send as well return, thanks a bunch guys.
Any advice on using insert? E.g. what should or shouldn't be connected, say like its ok to use it with compression etc and not effects or vice versa.
Thanks, but all I have are 1/4" channel inserts. I'm not referring to aux sends and returns, which I understand how to use. The inserts are just single mono points on each channels, no sends or returns.
Can anyone please tell me how to connect effects to the inserts on my mixer? I can't figure out where the ins and outs are. How many cables do I need and which goes into what, etc.
I find that changing my sitting position affects the noise/feedback which is best when I have my back totally turned to the computer and monitor. Worth a try.
From my experience, anytime I get my mix back home from the studio, there and then, the inadequacies are highlighted. So really, I think that yoy can use just about any speakers just as long as you know how they respond.
I ask myself why I come out of an expensive studio and into my budget...
Hello peoples, I tried micing an SM57 to record guitar on my Torque practice combo and was quite pleased with the results. However, not that pleased with the bass results, was that down to the mic or the combo?
Get a life Webycan, as they say, different strokes.........what's an oldbie like you doing on the internet anyway.
Thanks for the very useful advice everyone else!
I have no pre-amps, decent mics, etc, but will get these if that's what's required. I have a small guitar combo which I use for practice but don't think that would be adequate.
Any suggestions on these pieces of equipment then?
Is there any disadvantage to plugging the bass or guitar straight...
Guys, any suggestions on the best way to record (cd quality) bass guitar and electric guitar onto my hard disk. I use a ProTools with Digi 001, but I think whatever works for Cubase, etc would suffice.
Do I just plug straight into the sound card and record away, or does any other method...
TexRoadKill, what exactly are vocal plates and where can I find 'em please?
P Hallin, can I get a hardware version of the Masterverb direct-x plug in for Pro Tools? My Pro Tools LE does not support vst stuff.
Cheers mate, I knew about reverbs and short delays, but just thought maybe some other special effects are applied, i.e. chorus, etc. I guess i'll just roll with these 2 on my upcoming projects.
Someone once mentioned that getting an exciter could help to make my sound bigger, however i've...
Can anyone recommend:
1. What effects/ processing I need on the vocals for an R&B track?
2. What effects/ processing I need on a rap track?
3. How I can achieve a big stereo sound on my whole mix?
