The 1/4" main CR outputs are labeled 1 and 2. Are these both stereo jacks (so you can have 2 different pairs of monitors connected), or are they mono? (1=Left speaker, 2=Right speaker)
Just trying to figure out which kind of cables I need to buy.
Same question for the Cue Mix output as well.
What's the advantage of a pcmcia card over my built in firewire port? Wouldn't I be using less resources by going with the built in, because the only drivers running would be the Firepod drivers and the Texas Instruments drivers?
If I went pcmcia, I would be using the card slot drivers, the...
lol, nope. It's a Super Sonic and it's vintage is around 2006. It's actually a friend's, so I don't really know the specs (I'm a bass player) but one channel is based on a Bassman and the other I think is based on a Twin Reverb. I could be way off on the 2nd channel. He used to leave it over...
That's what I was hoping to hear. My firewire socket shows Texas Instruments drivers when I look them up in system, so I'm hoping I won't need a pcmcia firewire card.
I'm building up my home studio quicker than I thought I would. I currently have on order:
(2) Matched Naiant X-M/T's
(1) Shure SM-57
(1) Cad GXL-3000
What should I look into as my next mic? I would really like to have a bass drum mic of some sort so I can record a drum kit. I've also been...
I'm setting up a home studio with my Toshiba Laptop and a Firepod.
It's processor is a 1.5 Ghz Centrino M and it has been maxed out at 2 gigs of RAM.
The hard drive internally holds 40 gigs. I'm not sure on the speed (is there a way to tell?) I just ordered a Western Digital 320 gig 7200...
I pulled the trigger on a matched pair of X-M/T mics. I'm leaning towards picking up a dedicated bass drum mic and an SM57 to use on the snare. The plus of the SM57 is it's so versatile. Should I look into something else other than the SM57?
I'll try to get pics for you in the morning. I use a complete set for practicing. The bass drum pad is held in place with industrial looking rubber bands, small rubber blocks and small plastic S hooks that hang onto the lugs. No Velcro for me.
I don't have the recording gear in yet (just ordered a Firepod, and am researching mics) but here's where my studio will be. There's also another bedroom behind the wall with the piano that will serve as a 2nd tracking room.
You might look into an Aguilar tone Hammer, it's not horrible on the wallet.
If you want to spend more money, look into a REDDI.
I don't own either but I've been playing bass for 17 years, and I've had both recommended to me often.
I'm just starting to put my first studio together. I have a large view out basement, with 2 rec rooms, a spare bedroom, and a full bath. I'm thinking about claiming the larger of the 2 rec rooms and the spare bedroom for tracking. I might be able to fit my "control room" in the other rec room...
Has anybody here tried all of the mics that are recommended for drum use?
I'm looking specifically at a matched pair of X-M/T's for overhead, X-M/A for bass drum, and X-S for snare. This looks promising because these mics all seem to be extremely useful beyond a drum kit.
After lots of...
Might look into Koss "the plug" headphones with an adapter. I use them on my motorcycle all the time. Never tried them for tracking but it seems like a good idea.
They cost less than $20, and are basically ear plugs with a small tube to project the source audio into your ear.
Anybody here...
It will work with almost anything else, and I think I may have a copy of Cubase laying around anyway. So again, I will take it as long as somebody can point me to the drivers for XP on the site. They don't list the Firepod at all.
PM sent
Can you direct me to the link on the Presonus site for the Firepod drivers? Also what software will this work with. After a little research I've discovered it won't work with Protools.
As long as I can get (preferably free) software and working drivers for this I'll take it.
