I was thinking that recording the track playing through headphones might simulate that "old radio" sound?
If anything, you're mic will look cool wearing some iPod earbuds. ;)
I do think it is considered offensive here in the U.S., at least by Japanese people. Maybe it was from the negative connotation the word "Jap" got during WWII.
"Chink" is a shortened version of Chinese, but I don't think it's very appropriate. I don't like being called that and I'm not even...
You're not a moron if you've made an educated decision. It sounds like you've thought this out and weight the pros and cons. It's definitely smart to factor in your financial situation.
But, you may want to get your stuff before you get married. (While you're still allowed.) ;):p
Damn right! You guys do what you have to. :)
Life's too short to get hung up on whether or not you're selling out.
Just think, if Britany didn't sell out, she'd be poor white trash instead of rich white trash. Sure being stupid will always suck, but being poor sucks worse. :D:D
If you're already using a PA, just run a stereo out to the line in of your PC sound card and record it. For spoken stuff I doubt you need anything more than a plain sound card.
You probably just need a $4 cable from Radio Shack.
EDIT: Oh, and google "how to podcast" and you'll get lots of...
YES! :D
I did a cover of this last year and used some kind of lo-fi plugin to get the AM radio sound, but I always wanted to redo it and actually play the track through a cheap radio and record it again that way.
I always start these projects but I'm too A.D.D. to stick at them long enough...
Not dogging anyone on this board, but I've yet to hear anything in the clinic that comes close to the vocal talent of any of the winners. I know I can't sing like that. Chris Daughtry has probably written a higher percentage of his published music than Alan Jackson, and AJ has had quite a...
Your voice sounds good, you just need to get some air behind it.
I know exactly what you mean about having the recorder running. I seem to be able to sing outloud over my speakers just fine, but mute the speakers, put on the headphones, and suddenly I can't do squat! One thing that helped...
This isn't a Gibson invention, actually. I'm a Strat lover and I'd still say this was a stupid waste of money for 95% of the players even if it were a "Robot Strat." And to compare this with the invention of the electric guitar is like comparing the invention of Viagra with the Polio vaccine...
Hehe, great thread. :)
Beck: I've been doing some searching, but am having a hard time finding much substantial in the way of reel to reel decks. I want a simple stereo setup to copy mixes or even single tracks to as an effect. What should I be looking for?
It doesn't sound like everyone is playing at the same tempo. The song has potential. Definitely get some lyrics on there, and retrack to a click. If you're going to keep it an instrumental, I'd add another part with a more "up front" melody. As is, it sounds like a backing track for a vocal...
You should judge that by your musical abilities and not your mixing abilities. :) Monitors would go a long way in making it easier, in my opinion.
Nice tune. Indulge yourself with some gear. :D
Japan is a lot like we are, you're going to pay a lot more for stuff made there now because they aren't the third world country people think they are by a long shot. Their factory workers want computers and HDTV too.
There are a lot of well made guitars that originate outside the U.S. but...
I"m not saying that I agree or disagree with your stance that digital is sonically inferior, but I don't think there's any reputable way to counter science with a gut feeling and conjecture.
That being said, the florescent ballast in my coworker's office makes the most gawd awful, high pitched...
I have seen that in other places I've lived, and can at least say it's not that bad here. The musicians in this town are usually very cool. I can think of one douchebag, but everyone knows he's a douchebag and he pretty much spends most of his time playing with himself at home on his...
