really you should only be compressing takes if you're positive about the sound your trying to concieve. cuz once you go there, you can't go back without re-recording.

using rewire gives you the ability to use vst's with yer reason synths and samplers. you can also write all of your midi info in cubase as well as mix it all in cubase.
what are you trying to compress?
is it signal that's being recorded, or is it a track that's already been recorded.
if it's a signal that is being recorded, just use the inserts on that channel.
if it's a pre-recorded track, choose channels 5 & 6 as the outputs of those tracks you wanna...
