Hello, I switched over from protools after Digidesign bricked my hardware. I've been using Reaper to work on mixes a little when I'm away from home. I'm on my first day recording with it, and so far it's great. Very intuitive. I had a problem using antares autotune vst (go ahead, make fun)...

    pt rant

You're right. I know you are. I know my attitude of wanting a piece of hardware I like to be usable indefinitely is outdated. I was thinking about tape machines, and how if you bought one (and took good care of it) it would STILL be useable now in 2009. But like I say, I know, I'm old, or...

    pt rant

Problem solved, like so: "slipstream" sp2 into my xp disk, install xp2. Install ASIO 6.1.1 drivers independent of PT. Install (and record with) Reaper. I have to say, I'm pretty happy about how it worked out. Not thrilled, I do love PT, but it was time. I agree with or at least...

    pt rant

I've been using PT for about 10 years, and I love it. I love my 001. Only now I've been left in the dust by Digidesign, because the newest version of pt I can use with the 001 is 6.4, and the OLDEST version that works with Vista is 7.4. So in order to upgrade toi the processor I want (pentium...

    6.4 compatible with vista64?

Sounds nice, but I don't see ever buying something this proprietary again.

    6.4 compatible with vista64?

Well, I went ahead and ordered a 32bit vista machine, and I'm going to try to get a copy of xp(sp2) so we'll see. I mostly wanted more ram and a faster processor for Reason (among other things) and I got that, so like I said, we'll see. One of these days I'm just going to have to upgrade my...

    6.4 compatible with vista64?

That makes sense, depressing as it is. I love my 001, which won't allow me to update past ptle6.4. I wish digi would support the 001 (provide vista drivers) but I have to take the blame for using 10-year old hardware/software.

    6.4 compatible with vista64?

I'm conputer shopping and would like to get a 64-bit machine to support large amounts of ram. Does anyone know if 6.4le will run in Vista 64-bit environment? Thanks. Digi's support website is less than helpful.

    Rack Effects or Computer Effects

Since you're new to it all, I'd go software and save a lot of money. Used by someone with untrained ears, it's just as good. Someday you may be able to hear its limitations, and that's the day you need to start shopping for an LA2A (start saving now, though:(). The other side of that...

Who Is Better Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page

So obviously they're better, because they sold more records. That's how you tell how good musicians are, after all.

Who Is Better Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page

Really? Basing it on record sales? Then Shania Tawain beats both of them. And McDonald's makes the best burger ever tasted. The best beer, Bud.

virtual drums for pt 6.4 le

PT 6.4 is the newest version I can run on my 001. I've been using fruity loops and recently reason to create rhythm tracks, which I then import to pt. It's OK, but I'd like to try a drum program from within pt, for convenience. It doesn't need as many features as FL or reason, just lay down...

    Anyone use ProCo stuff?

Fulltone OCD; I bought it a year ago, planning to try many over time and make up my mind. But I've fallen so deeply in love with it, I'm not looking for others any more.

    FS: Spider 210 w footswitch

I haven't been to this part of the forum in quite some time, last I knew it was still OK to link to ebay auctions, though it bothered some here. If the winds have shifted and it's considered bad manners, please accept my apology!!!:o I'm selling a "red" line 6 spider 210 amp with fb6...

    Recording Bass

+1 for sansamp rbi I prefer miking a cab, but I couldn't find a $300 range bass combo that I liked even a little, not even just for recording. Snagged an RBI off ebay for ~$200, and I love it. I'll just have to save up for one of these, or, if I'm really patient, one of these. (recording...

    Order of effects

I started using Reason, and so far it's about the funnest program ever invented. Not sure how much I can use it in my real music, but I'm getting paid to make exercise music right now, and it work well for that. Plus, like I say, fun as hell. My question is about effects like chorus...

    Low-Watt tube recording amp

I went through this same process about a year back and ended up with the blackheart 5w combo. I liked it as well or better than anything else <400. I didn't get to try some of the used models I was looking for, including Ampeg and Gibson, but I needed it for a project and couldn't wait until...

Here's Your Big Chance To TOTALLY Diss A Famous Guitarist

Aw, come on! I never tire of seeing him crack a guy's arm in half by bending the elbow backwards over his shoulder, or the 'snap-a-neck' move, or the dozens of others. Then again, haven't seen one of those movies since I was a teenager...
