Hard to imagine a more personal, subjective question. "Christmas card from a hooker in Minneapolis" gets me every single time, but many of my friends cringe when it comes on. On the other hand, "Stairway to heaven" is probably timeless due to its longlived popularity, but I can't stand it. No...
I great resource is youtube, believe it or not. There are tons of very rudimentary tutorials for just about any function of any piece of equipment. I'm fairly thick, and I've been able to find some on my level!
Wait, just reread your post... what the interface BETWEEN your keyboard and computer?

#1 get (or try) an sm7.
#2 If you really love your music, learn about making it better. I mean, just commit and say "fuck it I'm not sleeping this weekend" and lock yourself in the studio and screw around with you eq, compression, reverb and anything else you've got. It takes love...
If you're going to give the closet a try, don't buy anything. Tack up some heavy blankets, think those ones you get in the back of a rented moving truck. If you get it dead enough, it could work. But by the time you get it treated, you may barely be able to fit in there!
The reason I'm more...
Was at GC yesterday picking up a guitar hanger, and then spent a lot of time browsing with my 6 year old. After he hammered the drums for awhile we wandered into the bass room and I tried this out. Loved it, loved it a lot. A couple years back I was looking for a cheapish bass amp, didn't...
What is a Redbook Compliant CD, in layman's terms? I mean, what do I need to make them, do I really need specialized software besides nero or itunes? What are the benefits of having a CD be redbook compliant?
Thanks for any help; the wikipedia entry was very technical, but I want to know...
Just saw this...

And it looks freaking perfect for my small, very modest setup. Well worth the extre $200, probably.
Anyone used this? Looking for a new interface, all I need is 4 in, two mic pres and two line ins, as clean souinding as possible, but cheap. This unit looks perfect, just thought I;d ask here. I'm currently using a digi 001, so the bar for preamps is not set particularly high.
Interesting, thanks. That looks just about right as long as it sounds decent and is friendly with different software.
Anyone else have experience with the 610?
If I had your amp I would melt all my pedals down into a big plastic/metal brick. Except maybe the tuner! The whole reason pedals were invented is because some people couldn't afford beautiful amps.
I'm looking to dump my digi 001 (love it, but it won't work with my core 2 duo) and pick up something new. I'd like at least two mic pre's and at least two line inputs. Currently I'm leaning mackie onyx 1220 w firewire card, but I'd like to spend less if I can get something decent. As far as...
Reaper.
I switched from Pro Tools after Digi bricked my interface. I used PT for about 9 years, and loved it dearly, and if I wasn't feeling spurned by my hardware experience, I'd consider using it again.
But Reaper, I love it now. It's not better than PT, probably, but I find it easier...
Thought this was cool, and hadn't seen it before:
On the Beastie Boys' record "To the 5 Burroughs," in the credits, it has"Studio Built by Master Carpenter Mark Edwards." Anyone else know of a record where they give credit to the carpenter?
Yeah, I know, good gear is better. I have some OK stuff, and some crap. I know the money spent on good gear is often worth it.
On the other hand, blow it out your ass. I am a guy with 1.5 jobs and 2 kids. Time and money are not in abundance in my current lifestyle. It doesn't bother me a...
