fuzz pedal adds massive feedback to bass

I have a Kala U-Bass, a little hollow body with rubber strings. I bought an ehx big muff pi for it, but my rig is feeding back terribly when it's engaged. The only solution I've found so far is to play at very low volumes, which is definitely a long term fix. Any insights? Thanks.

    CHEAP bass cambo

I'm about to spend a whole 200 bucks on a bass combo. It's just for rehearsal space, quite small, so I don't need a lot of volume. I'm ready to accept the possibility that anything I spend that little on will sound shitty, but, out of curiosity (or desperation) I'm just asking, is there...

    public domain

How do I know if a song is in the public domain? I want to use the melody from Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" for a project I'm working on for children, but I don't know if I can do that without paying. Thanks, and sorry if this isn't the right forum.

    pickup for requinto

My guitarist recently started using a requinto, and it sounds amazing. I highly recommend it to any guitarist who enjoys any kind of finger picking guitar. Can anyone recommend a pickup that would be good for this? It's a smaller nylon string guitar. Here's an example. We don't play...

    That's not a kick drum!

"This message is hidden because Greg_L is on your ignore list." You seem to be replying to me. Can't remember exactly why you're on the list, but I tend to trust my past self to have made a prudent decision. Not trying to be a dick, just thought I'd save you the trouble (in case you ARE...

    mackie onyx-i lag

I have a noticeable lag recording with my mackie onyx 820i. I have recorded many times with this successfully, this lag is a recent thing. I can't tell you what exactly changed since I last recorded successfully (what software installed, etc.) because it's been awhile since I've had time to...

    That's not a kick drum!

Only one way to find out, and it might be fun. Why limit yourself?

    That's not a kick drum!

For every ten misguided, nonsensical, crazy ideas I've tried, at least one has lead to something worth keeping. And the other nine? You can always learn something from failure. I honestly feel sorry for folks dead set against straying even an inch off the beaten path.

    Pa

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I've been playing some jazz with a friend, I play a digital piano and he plays a nylon string guitar. We were recently asked to play out, liked it and want to do it some more. We have a set of these, and instead of gutting the studio to bring the mixer to the...

Gear you purchased that were disappointments

presobus tubepre dbx 166 mackie 12-channel pos, can't remember the # but pre's sounded like listening to a seashell boss me-30 blackheart Thing is, I found some use or other for all of them, none of them gathered too much dust, and i sold them all at 60-80% of what I paid on ebay. Except...

    lag

I'm experiencing some noticeable lag recording some vocals today. I know when I used to use protools I would just adjust some buffer sizes, but I'm not sure how to access those setting in reaper, nor what number would give me less lag when recording.

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

Nor is it of any consequence to anyone who doesn't listen to him.

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

Whether you personally care for the recent works of either U2 or Metallica, they're entitled to make a living. You keep alluding to some failed racecar driver, but as far as I know these two bands are still selling a shit-ton more CD's and concert tickets (per show) than most bands out there...

Do You Use A Separate Hard Drive For Audio

Kinda. I have a 1TB external I use to store a lot of data, including recording sessions. When I'm working on a project, I move it to the internal drive, and when I'm done, and move it back to the "warehouse" drive.

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

I agree except for those Johnny Cash albums. I thought they showed tremendous restraint.

    Worst sounding Cd's ever

Every CD I could think of is just a CD I don't care for in the first place, and CD's I love, I think I'm apt to overlook any mastering flaws, like the much-maligned AJFA. I love the songs, so I never thought about the mastering too much. All I could think of from a CD I actually like was...

    serious treatment

They don't look like the liveliest rooms, but damn they're thoroughly treated. Perfect for the "I add all my reverb/ambience in the box" engineer. http://www.apple.com/antenna/testing-lab.html

silence at the end of tracks

Cool, as with every aspect of the process, discretion is in order. Good to know there's a rule of thumb to start with, so I know what my discretion might be deviating from.
