Anyone have a guitar tree stand?

I use them for live work cause I'm usually playing 2 or 3 instruments, but you've really got to be carefull with them when putting in and out, it's easy to rush and create a disaster.

    The tascam 2488

I got mine when they first came out so I guess I'm running the old software. Still no problems though. As a former 788 user it was a natural transition. The small screen blows but other than that I still like it.

    42 string guitar?

For that kind of sound I'd go with a Koto, lots of parlor tricks behind the bridge.

    best mandolin for under $1000

Eastman, hands down. Hand carved solid spruce and maple. A bodies, 2 points, and even a F-5 style 515 in that range.

PA For Acoustic Duo And Friends

That looks like a pretty good deal, but I'd try to get them to upgrade the mics.

String Gage suggestions for my semi-hollow

I use Elixers on my archtops, and everything else for that matter. 12's on the Eastman, 11's on the ES 150D and acoustic nano .12's on the L 50. Though I use .10's on solid bodies the archtops just feel better with a little more meat on their bones.

HELP! I can't stop buying guitars

Fun, but it sounds like you may need a little spring cleaning. I found that ebay was great for getting rid of parts and old electronic stuff (always using the word 'vintage').....and that cleared up some room. Guitars for me are harder to part with since I consider them funtional art, but I'll...

HELP! I can't stop buying guitars

Maybe it'll work for you as well but what slowed me down was running out of room. Notice I said 'slowed down' ....brown truck brings another Telecaster next week.

Thinking about a Taylor or other High-End Acoustic

I'd follow Light's advice and break the chain of command and go from the top down back contacting manufacturers directly. I'll add from personal experience coming back from Viet Nam that you should take your time and play 'em.....there's an impulse to buy right away.

    Campfire/sing along songs

I work for an outfit out here called Covered Wagon Tours and do this stuff all the time and suppose the most important thing is quickly reading the group you're playing to and adjust. It’s best to play the most common songs your group knows and to use devices like call and response / echo, and...

    Line 6 Poll

I've got a Variax acoustic and its very versitile for some of my needs live or recording. I seldom use it as a main guitar however. As for modeling, I don't like anything I've tried, but still use effects out of convienience sometimes.

My Acoustic sucks.....I need a new one!

Yeah but a Variax isn't acoustic. I have one and it's great on jobs and a lot of recording situations, but for songwriting I wouldn't want to be without a regular acoustic guitar. I have quite a few guitars but only seem to write on one or two....must be the course of least resistance or...

    The Fingerstyle Guitar Thread

Fingerstyle allows for a dynamic that's hard to get with a pick, in that you can go off in two directions........think left and right hands on a keyboard. I learned to use my pinky for support, as was the common style 45 years ago when I picked it up, but since not everything is in a three...

It's version 1.0 ....can't get any earlier than that. I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but I'll upgrade anyway.......thanks.

    tascam 2488

Hmmm, I should upgrade the firmware, my 2488 is one of the first ones imported. I've yet to have a problem with it and it has done quite a few projects. Like the 788 I had before it, I'll run my mixes to my computer and do all 2 track work in Sound Forge. Haven't had a problem with it in...
