it all sounds pretty nice... what sort of tape? you'll want to be careful it doesnt have any shedding problems. If so it won't cause any permanent damage but it will be quite annoying.

yeah you can't really go wrong with asus either:) well the driver issue will depend on how you are bouncing... it looks like the 2488 has a usb connection if you want to use that you will need some sort of driver, I would check the tascam site and see what operating systems they have a driver...

That tape should be fine for this unit (I believe... I'm not an expert on tapes or machines but this is where I would start...), If you haven't all ready make sure your heads are clean as a whistle using 91% or higher alcohol and cotton make up removal pads, q-tips are not generally...

boy that's gonna be a tough one... that board is not particularly suitable for this particular type of application. I'm looking at the overview diagram and I'm having a real hard time coming up with a good way to route that for even minimal functionality. the diagrams are here...
