    Tascam 564 'record error problem'

do you have multiple mini-discs?, seems to me this could be a problem with your media...eg there are some bad sectors on the disk and it's causing the machine to freeze when it tries to write to them. Not sure if this helps but it's all I can think of.

    Phase issues with samples????

My understanding was that he has both speakers playing a stereo drum track (L+R) while mic'ing only the left. He has then gone back and recorded a second track with the mic only on the right speaker. He wants to simulate an overhead mic setup by catching both sides of the stereo spread in each...

    Tascam TSR-8 & M320B help I'm new

I would just like to second Sweetbeat's and Ghost's routing recommendations and questions.... especially about the meters. I know when I first came up on an M-520 it took me a while to wrap my head around the different ways to monitor my sources or tape inputs. Let us know!

    TASCAM 48 grounding issue

i'm also curious as to the 48's grounding, as I was surprised to see it was two prong with no external ground point when I got mine, long shot but if you recently rewired maybe check you don't have any power cords running parallel to audio cords?

problems installing XP on HP Pavilion w/ Vista Ultimate

Sorry if I got a little frustrated there, I know you were just trying to help, It just kind of irks me when people reformat there factory installs and possibly don't end up going the whole way of restoring all the drivers for the comp or end up losing data or some level of functionality that...

    I really hate to repost . . . but . . . .

his unit does have a line out though... so he should be fine in terms of output impedance as long as he has the line outs going into the 488 edit: it actually looks like it is one set of outputs, so to avoid this he just has to have the switch set to MIXER and that should create the correct...

    I really hate to repost . . . but . . . .

give it a shot, test it out and see how it works. Looks like your fx unit doesn't have an option to take a line level source so I think you'll probably introduce more noise into the signal chain then you would like but hey maybe not:) If your effects loops are parallel just make sure your not...

    I really hate to repost . . . but . . . .

This is on the same machine Steve? My understanding is that there are two types of effects loops. There are standard, and parallel. The parallel will actually blend the wet and dry signal, and in the case of drive and gain based effects would create a feedback issue, however it should be...

    I really hate to repost . . . but . . . .

well there's no reason it can't, but there may be some reasons you don't want to the inputs for guitar based effects and pedals are designed to take a signal with the electrical impedance of a signal coming from a guitar. sending a line level source into such a unit will most likely give you...

problems installing XP on HP Pavilion w/ Vista Ultimate

whoa whoa whoa, what is going on in this thread? I didn't even catch this, I'm sorry guys I don't mean to be rude here but there is a lot of misinformation being spread in this thread. while true a 32 bit os and a 64 bit os cannot exist on the same partition, no two os's can exist on the same...

problems installing XP on HP Pavilion w/ Vista Ultimate

yeah I looked this up... the boot loader is the only issue these seem to be well regarded instructions for the whole process http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystep_guide.htm but there are quite a few more just do a search for something along...

problems installing XP on HP Pavilion w/ Vista Ultimate

explain to me why you would be unable to install xp on top of a pre installed vista, that makes no sense to me. The only problem I could see would be with the boot loader, and there are a variety of ways to either restore the vista boot loader after xp was installed or install a non ms boot...

Tascam M-30 mixer suitable for Tascam 48?

well I wouldn't mind using a 388 but they are so damned expensive!:) I haven't seen a local one for less then 400 and I've been looking for a long time. I can piece together a set-up from things I already have and get a couple other pieces of gear for cheap. I also would like the added...

Tascam M-30 mixer suitable for Tascam 48?

heh sorry to get lazy with my 3's and my 5's and yes I've actually run into that issue while monitoring the 2 TR's and AUX 1 + 2 sends, fortunately in that case I was able to just select the 2 TR as the input for the channels turn them on and send to AUX 3 + 4, and monitor those as well, but I...

this may be of interest to you http://www.obsoletemedia.com/tapedecks/manuals/teac4300sx/index.htm its a little small but if you use the zoom feature of your browser it should be readable:) it says the four outputs are used for sending to parallel devices if so desired so basically you can...
