    Drop-tuning etc

Metal zone + EQ. I didn't say it sounds the same as low-C, but it definately sounds damn 'br00tal' enough for me (and yes, I'm into the whole deathcore stuff). With my originals though, I go more for an early post-hardcore sound like From autumn to Ashes. IMO the whole "evil low sound" have...

    Drop-tuning etc

Yeah IMO that's the feeling I get - just power chord everything instead of playing bare chords!! I agree with metalhead28 that for some music it's important (eg Black Label Society). I just wanted to know what's everyone elses take on this subject - I wasn't going to change the way I play...

    Drop-tuning etc

Alright, so me and my band have an audition for a rhythm guitarist and I had a chance to talk to zillion of guitar players. What really quite annoyed me is that every other dude has to throw "what tuning do you play in, man?" thing into a conversation. Maybe I should explain abit - not only...

    I'm a sucker/gambler

Or you can re-sell them on eBay as "extreme war zone mikes - Eisenhower himself announced the WW2 victory thru them!" and earn even more $$$ With all seriousness though, good luck with your bid - hope it's a good bargain ;)

Guitar Recording - Amp Miking or DI?

Now I caused one massive debate! I'll go for an amp anyway, seing as I'm going to start gigging with my band soon instead of sitting at home recording. Thanks for all the replies anyway, very insightful

    EQ issues

Haha I keep forgetting it's such a British phrase. The worst one is probably when you say "right, I'm off for a fag" and you have Americans going all   wondering what is wrong with you :D

    EQ issues

God, what's wrong with Behringer? It's not the mixer that alters your sound, so no need to take a piss :) http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/3749 Stereo 31-band EQ for like 150 bucks or something. My 7-band Behringer EQ pedal does a great job, I'm sure whatever...

    Recommend a preamp?

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/1932 2-channel tube pre for just over 200 bucks. I have a one-channel baby version of this (Ultragain Mic200) and it does an amazing job for my AKG mike. If you don't trust me read the reviews on Harmony Central -...

Guitar Recording - Amp Miking or DI?

Or Eddie Van Halen's tone on his second to last album. God I love that record.

    A Guide for New Guitarist.

RG1570 looks amazing - I've never touched it coz it costs over $1200 in the UK. But I follow your drift - as long as I'm fairly satisfied with my main guitar, I'd rather save for a good replacement rather then a so-so replacement. Cheers for the opinion!

    A Guide for New Guitarist.

Speaking of cheap guitars, which ones do you own? Because I had played 400 bucks Ibanez RG321 and I absolutely love it. I'm wondering because soon I'll be able to afford a much higher class Ibanez model, like RG350 series, but for some reason I just clicked with 321 and don't want to look any...

    A Guide for New Guitarist.

You see man, it depends. I certainly don't doubt that guys like Satch and Vai really use the advantage of hi-end guitars to sound as awesome as they do. But sometimes you read interview with guys like Dino from Divine Heresy or whatever where they go on about "whoa I only use guitars with...

Mega Old Recording - WTF was the song?!

I'm sure you'll learn with my other recordings :p Damn, I guess I'll never know what it was meant to be. Bollocks!

    Basic setup for guitar recording...

I don't know man, for the most part it's your fingers and your rig that make the sound - not the guitar. Look at Van Halen - he's been playing crappies guitars ever thru pretty much all David Lee Roth era. Even later, what was it - Ernie Ball? Peavey? Yeah - exactly. Get a good amp and Roland...

    A Guide for New Guitarist.

Funnily enough, when I was first buying a guitar that's the approach I had in mind. I played couple of LPs, SGs and Fenders in the local shop (all american made) and was like "well meh, I can't play guitar anyway, my fault they don't make me sound like Zakk Wylde". Then I picked up the $200...

    Basic setup for guitar recording...

Man, if you're going to get a tube amp you definately wouldn't need a POD. Besides Line6 sucks (no offence to anyone). What do you mean by 'most situations' ? Do you want to record or own stuff, or you just wanna do covers from like soul to nu-rave? If the former it's all up to you what sound...

Mega Old Recording - WTF was the song?!

Haha don't worry, like I said I had just bought an axe back then. It's like watching old home videos of you learning to ride a bike :D

Mega Old Recording - WTF was the song?!

My mate just sent me this as a joke, and now it drives me up the wall that I have no idea what I tried to cover. It was still hilarious to listen to it - that must have been my first month of playing guitar, I was recording on a tape using AIWA hi-fi system using mic input as a distortion (oh...
