So how do you get that Led Zep 1 sound?

Here's a link to John Bonhams web page at Drummer world, it has a video of the guy playing one of his sets and talking about his setup and sound. http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/John_Bonham.html Doug

    Roland VS2400CD vs. VS2480CD

Max, I own a VS2400, very nice unit. If you have the VS840, you will have no problem, same basic operation. Make sure to get a Monitor, it simplifies all of the editing functions when you have that visual. It does support a keyboard and the 40g hard drive, for me, is large enough, over 60hrs of...

    New to Recording

I also own a VS2400. On the effect, when you click on any patch, esp Reverbs, the effect is usually at 100%, you can change the parameters of any effect, just turn the rev down and the direct signal up. You should read about using the effects in the Aux's and you can access the effect on any...

    Just starting home recording

Sure, wait a year or two or longer so you can study and learn everything about recording and then on your tight budget save 20k to 30k so you can buy top of the line equipment. Just make sure you don't forget all the songs you are writing since you won't have anything to record them on.....

    $450 drum set?

Just don't let the guys at Guitar Center/Sam Ash/Mars...whoever try to sell the kits without hardware, they buy them like that and then seperate the stands. Look online at Music123 or Musicians Friend for at least $$ comparison. They sell those sets complete. With Cymbals it will be hard to...

Oktava 319 for $69 at GC - how can I go wrong buying one of these?

i saw the same thing, list price is $599.00! If I just didn't buy a vocal mic, I would try to get one just for the heck of it. What did they sell for before?

    What's wrong with popular music?

ok, devils advocate time. Whats wrong with popular music? Nothing. If we are all honest about what goals we had when we first picked up a guitar or whatever instrument and got a band together, we had two goals.. get laid and become a popular band. Does anyone want to play unpopular music?? Yes...

Announcement: Future Music Magazine To Launch in US!!

I had a subscription to Home Recording mag for about 2 years. It was great when it first came out, but then like most mags, less and less useful articles and more and more ads. Maybe this mag will be ok. I'll at least give it a look.

    Pan Issue

No, not on the vs2400. Doesn't that unit have a mouse port on the back? If you plug in the mouse you should be able to navigate with it. Doug

    Pan Issue

I have a VS2400 and you can hook the mouse up and control the LCD with it without a monitor. You should be able to use the mouse to control all of the features that you can see on your LCD. Doug

What It Takes To Be Progressive

Styx and Boston progressive rock?? I never thought of them as playing much more than radio ready pop/rock (i love both by the way) Maybe early Styx. As far as music from this century, ;) maybe Tool, A Perfect Circle, Iced Earth,Tourniquet... It seems like there are more european bands in that...

    Roland VS-2000-CD

Last year it was going on from July to December. I would call a local dealer and see if Roland still has that offer, I didn't see it on their site, but they are promoting the VS2000 now, to bad no automated faders on that one. I got mine from Guitar Center.

    Roland VS-2000-CD

Buy it! I own a VS2400, you won't be disappointed. I love it. Roland had an offer for a FREE expansion board (2 more effects prossesors) you might see if the dealer you are getting it from gives you that, also, they should be able to sell it to you for about $2400.00..... Don't let the size of...

    A's or E's?

I own both. I have a set of Yamahas DXExpress (low end as far as E drums) and they sound great. I sold my old acoustics about 3 years ago when I bought these and use them to record with. Easy and great sounding, but... it really made me want another acoustic set. The look, the feel, the...

The next step for a self taught drummer?

I really don't understand the reasoning trying to be self taught at anything. I play guitar and drums, and yes, while playing on my own I have discovered many new things, some techniques can be learned so much faster just by someone showing you. Why spend hours, weeks or years figuring stuff out...

    Direct Guitar Recording

I record a lot of direct also. I use the Zoom GM200. Very cheap unit that I bought for $50.00 on clearence. I love it! I record with a friend who has the $600 pod and I like my tones just as much as anything he gets. I guess it's just in the ear of the listener.
