I'd prefer the Delta 1010 as well!
I think it's better to choose your own preamps (outboard mixer or voice-channels) than to have to pay for integrated preamps that you'll probably just bypass after you get more gear.
Doesn't such a website already exist?? I'm sure a saw a link in a thread on this BBS to a website where musicians could meet to record songs together over the net...
I'd say hell no because making a collective mix out of mp3 track files (that is what you want to do right?) would sound like crap when you add them up (mp3 is quite a lossy compression format, and the more tracks you sum, the more you'll hear how bad it sounds)
But the idea's good...
That's up to you to decide...If you're happy with the sound you're getting...
A preamp doesn't only amplify a signal. It will also make it sound a lot better (ie clearer, more precise, more upfront, more 'there') than the preamp from the 'mic-in' on a Soundblaster
Yep, if you're talking...
Well said.
When you're paying to record in a "pro" studio (as opposed to your own homestudio) , you don't have time to check around for what the engineer is doing: what's the signal chain, is he applying eq during trackdown, "why are you doing that?, "what does this button do??" ;)...
If money wasn't an issue I'd get more than just one compressor...
But I'd be looking at the big names such as Cranesong, Empirical Labs Distressor or Fatso, Manley, Urei, Avalon and of course...the RNC :)
Just resell the cdrs or keep them till you upgrade your burner.
If your burner doesn't like a brand of cdrs, I don't believe there is much you can do to 'persuade' it.
Yeah, i think it's ironic how a lot of people who believe in god think that those who don't are somehow 'lost' or in need of help or guidance.
I usually see it the other way around. In my opinion those who believe 'god' created the universe are a lot more confused than me :D
Oh well.
huh??
Could you clarify?
Don't you think communism just like capitalism is an economic concept?? What does it have to do with religion (or the lack of)??
Which concepts are you talking about?
These are all very good tips, but the most important thing in mixing (and mastering as well) is to have as many blinking lights on as possible.
Make sure all your gear is turned on and the flashing lights shall not only turn your studio into a disco, they will also make your mix sound a lot...
Uhhhh.....Isn't that the least you could expect? I mean if you buy a mic and it doesn't work, or if it breaks down...That's what the warranty is for: to get it fixed for free, no?
Have I missed something??
I would guess it's because you're using packet-writing, right?
I don't know what EZ-cd's packet-writing software is called, but I use Nero's In-cd which also significantly reduces the available space on a cd-rw when you format it.
If you need to use the whole 650MB of a cd-rw, just burn it...
Stop saying apples are better than oranges!
Aaaaahhhhh this "joe" mic sounds better than that "schmoe" mic has got to end!!!
It's taken out of context, no true pro would ever say something as silly unless he was referring to a certain situation for example: "to record this particular...
SOS July 2001 issue
TLAudio (HHB in the US) seems to be a lot more popular in the UK than in the US.
Their gear is regularly mentioned in interviews in british mag Sound-on-sound, for example Chris Tsangarides (Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Depeche Mode...) has the TLAudio VTC desk (a 'tube'...
ha ha! Just like you would like to call a C1 an U87 ey?
:D
I'll never find out if it sounds close to a TLM103, cause where I live the price of a C1 is roughly that of a TLM103...So if I had the money, I'd just go with the Neumann. Logic ey?
