You need a dual motherboard (you could go with either Pentium IV or Athlon MP, but if you want raw power the Athlons will give you more tracks and plug-ins)
Note however that 2 cpus at 2Ghz will NOT give you 2 times more processing power than 1 cpu at 2Ghz. In practice the difference is often...
Partitionning a single drive works just as well. I'm doing it and so are many other people on this BBS : one small partition (5-10 Gb) for OS and apps, and the rest for data (audio files).
The only advantage I can think of in having 2 separate drives is that it would make it easier to carry...
Ausrock, I just think the SP adverts should be limited to the SP-related threads, there are plenty of those already..."This has gone too far" (Guess which movie that's taken from  )
Ronnie, sorry to see that your thread got hi-jacked by the...
I'm well aware of that, you're new, so you probably haven't read any of my previous postings, but everytime someone asks for a mobo recommendation I say "stay away from Via".
The thing you don't seem to be aware of, is that there are lots of mobos for the AMD platform that don't use Via...
Gidge isn't the only one who's bothered by SP spamming. The original thread has nothing to do with SP, and putting smilies all over your post won't make the spam any less obvious...
That's all good and well, but where are the "yeah-yeah-yeaaahh", "C'mon, c'mon" and "Put your hands in the air"?? You can't write a song without those...
:D :D :D
Arguably??! At the same "frequency" XPs have a faster FPU than PIVs which makes them a more powerful alternative for a DAW (ie more plugins and more tracks).
For the same amount of money...I'm not even gonna get into that, the PIV's get slaughtered by the XP's.
Nothing to argue about...
I just got my pair of Reveal actives from Germany (588 Eur postage included!) yesterday so I haven't had time to check them out soundwise yet...but they sure look sexy! :D
C'mon, you can find Sound on sound in the US, can't you?? Just read it off the newsstand if you can't afford it :)
It will be available for free on www.sound-on-sound.com, but not before a couple of months...
It would be illegal to scan the entire article, but if there are any specific...
Some people in India have been known to be able to make various objects levitate, but I haven't heard of anybody levitating a condenser mic, so you might wanna look into a mic stand :)
No you're not.
I'm using an nforce chipset (Asus A7N266-C mobo with an 1700+ Athlon XP) which has been up 24/7 without any problems for a month now with my Delta 66 under win2k
If you read the logic forums at sonik, there are some users there who also use nforce mobos with great success (do...
Exactly. I can't believe some people in this thread complain about their sound. I don't care if it's "lo-fi", "retro" or "sound like ass" : at least they sound different than 99% of the standardized rock bands out there, and that's damn refreshing.
Don't bother...The improvement in audio quality is a lot greater going from 16 to 24 bit than going from 44.1 to 48kHz, so try recording at 24 bit first before you consider whether or not you should go for 48kHz...
Damn! This always happens...I post at the same time as someone else but the other person's post always comes first in the thread, making me look like a moron...
I've got to get a faster connection :p
