lol the 'maker' Alan Hyatt has been in the pro audio biz for a long time! He is not some homerecording hobbiest who decided to make a mic for his pals at homerecording.com. He came to this BBS after the mic was made, to launch his product which is aimed mainly at the homerecording market.

The tube mic you're thinking of is the Rode NTK, which I own and am very pleased with. Buy a good mic with a good preamp. It doesn't matter if there's 2 or no tubes in your recording chain. Just listen to diffrent combinations of mics and preamps and don't worry so much about the number of...

You should have done that first! :) Before you start mixing you have to 'learn' your monitors, ie learn how a good mix (commercial album) sounds on them... It's good also to use a commercial record as a reference while you mix. About your setup, I believe its important to have a 'balanced'...
