Goldwave has seemed to work well for a free program.

It seems like the bottom only needs to be mic'd if you are trying to achieve more snare sound. I only use an sm57 on the top. Of course the kid of music I play is a sound where you don't want to much snare. It really depends on the type of music, and how much of that snare sound you want.

Sorry, I should have made this more clear. I have friends host shows at churches, so really there are no church members there, just a lot of young people. So it really has nothing to do with church music. It's shows with many local bands that give 75% of profits to the church.

Hm, I'm not very expierienced with this, but to me the bass drum sounds to soft. Not volume wise, but to "jazzy soft." Maybe a wood or nylon beater would help. yeah, thats just in my opinion.

I tried duct tape. Just small pieces around the edges. Could that sound have been because it was too thick? (or think compared to masking tape?) Do you have any placement suggestions? Around the edges or close to the bell?
