PC Users - Your preferred DAW

I've had and tried most of them, but have to say that SONAR is my only love as of yet. X1 is truly great. Reaper, if I have to choose a second. Cubase is way too cluttered.

good books for mixing and mastering

I concur with the post above - Roey Izhakis "Mixing Audio" is my best buy ever, and if you buy one book only, make sure that is the one. That said, Mike Senior's book "Mixing Secrets" is my third favorite, only topped by the cult classic "The Art of Mixing" by Dave Gibson (who is absolutely...

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Thanks for your lovely insights:) My small business is currently going great despite my site having a somewhat modest homemade design. Are you perhaps thinking of starting up something of your own if you manage to pass secondary school?

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Old thread but wtf - updated the site with newer examples. And work is really taking off recently. Will probably need to expand the sitedesign - either by myself or hire someone to do it... Online Drum Tracking Service by Session Drummer Rickard Langnesund

    Click remove question

As Kip said: what kind of clicks? If your buffer settings are low you may experincing tiny dropout due to your system not processing audio fast enough. Other than that - have you zoomed in properly on each clip, perfected the wave and done a tiny fade-in/-out for each. Clicks have been known to...

How To Write A Midi Track To Wav?

Bounce them to a new track in the submeny. Or you can just freeze them (snowflake symbol), and move the freezed audio track to a new position and just save the old MIDI file for reference.

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Thanks VHS. Thought I ought to respond to this as well: - The banner is still off yes, but actually it is on purpose (to fit most of the set in). I might change it once more, but hopefully it's a tiny step up from the previous yellow cymbalhorror. - I also have pondered upon that many may not...

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Thanks for the input Greg. I always welcome harsh criticism. In order then: * I now realise that I probably should use the more recent work I've been doing for actual customers as samples, instead of kicking it off with a apartment jam that's over a year old, and where payment was not in the...

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Thanks for your opinion FP. I have had this discussion more times than I can count. I assume you read what is written under the "electronic drums"-section? The point is that you do not pay for e-drums, and you do not pay for acoustic drums. You pay for the performance played in full by an...

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Boys & Girls, Many thanks for the input. Now updated, and very soon I will also implement recording possibilities of my Gretsch Maple kit with full set of AKG mics for the acoustically inclined. Will probably change the subheader even more after that I guess...

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Thank you kindly for the pointers. I will consider removing the top cymbal yes, since it probably drags the site down instead of up. A few look-overs and updates over time should be in order then.

Drums Come True - Online drum tracking service

Recently launched a modest site where I offer customized drum tracks. Would like to have your opinion regarding the choice of tunes, styles, sound (and perhaps even the layout?). Thanks! Online Drum Tracking Service by Session Drummer Rickard Langnesund

Sonar X1 Producer Expanded (Also quick question on midi)

As far as I understand it's just Softube's modules integrated, so it won't make no difference unless you choose to use them - which goes for any plug-in. As always it's the person behind the wheels that makes the difference. And FYI; if you need a real drummer, feel free to check out my site.

Anyone know good drum software that is compatible with Reaper?

In my world there really only are six of them: Superior Drummer Addictive Drums Ocean Way Drums Steven Slate Drums Mixosaurus FXPansions BFD I use SD on most of my tracks. Addictive usually takes care of the rest. That said, Steven Slate 4 is out now and sounds awesome. Ocean Way Drums are not...

    Sonar X1 worth it?

Oh yes! I used 8.5 and swithched to X1. Love it all the way. Main goodies are the ability to customize views (skylight). Prochannel also makes things a little easier, even though 3rd-party plug-ins usually takes over. Layout is simple and clear, and I can automate buses smoothly. Color scheme...

    Books (highly recommended/ very informative)

Mixing Audio - think I have read that one three times by now - love it! Other gems that I prefer would be Mixing Secrets, Modern Recording Techniques, The Art of Mixing and Mastering Audio. After that there are several...

    Sonar X1 vs Sonar 8.5

This is a no-brainer. I would'nt even consider NOT buying SONAR X1. When you do it will be your favorite application all areas. Forget about Nuendo/Cubase/Logic/DP etc etc...

Did defragmentation fuck up Superior Drummer?

I have a pristine recording done in SONAR X1 with Superior Drummer, Bass and Guitar. Everything worked smoothly. Then after I defragmented my drive with Auslogics, several hits in the track are left out when I play the project. Sometimes a few hihat-hits disappears, cymbal crashes...

What's your reference CD/Song when you mix?

Mainly in funk/fusion - and there I think Yellowjackets first album is nice. Dave Weck's recordings are also super (Synergy). Some more "modern" Weather report like Mr Gone or Domino Theory. For 90 rock it would be RHCP's BSSM or Nirvanas Nevermind. Steely Dan is always good. Apart from that -...
