I've only used it on the bass drum myself. Supid easy mic to get a usable to great kik sound with..I wonder how it would do on a bass amp ? Check out the Shure beta 52..good kik mic also. Good luck in your search :)
I have one..I like it..I use it for vocals mostly and sometimes a room mic for drums, because I'm lazy and its up most of the time. I pair it with a GT Vipre..I think I paid about $750.00 for it about 2 years ago..Good mic :)
Overkill...Sure why not :D I'll second the OSA's.The lunchbox idea is definetly a good one! Mix and match API's,Purples,BA's and OSA's :)For overheads I'm likeing Shures KSM44's right now GT44's are pretty cool too for less cash..but really most decent mics will work {dependent on what you are...
All fine and well except...THe bottom line here is that people that spend upwards of 2000$ for a guitar that says Gibson on it are less creative than those who spend 300$ on a silvertone.
Thats is just wrong..I have freind back home{Boston} who is a excellent avant guitar player and he uses...
Lotsa good ones already mentioned like Brian May..Billy Duffy ,"Electric" very cool raw stuff..Jeff Beck...Also Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner on Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Animal and later Alice Cooper albums..Great ripping sound,P90's and HiWatts!
try the back of that combo too. There can be some beef that can be used/found from the back of combos..check your phase between the front and back mics and rock n roll :)
The compresser is a little heavy for this vocal preformance...brings out the pops in the mic too much and sibiance..Nice job on the tune!Get a pop filter and tilt the mic back a couple of degrees..pan your guits a little closer so the entry is a little smoother, maybe 11 and 1 0clock sounds like...
I like the OSA's A's,C's{love 'em on drums}and the L3 quite a bit, nice bottom and clear top end..But different strokes :) ..I do like the Great River NV's with the KSM 44's..matter of fact, come to think of it whenever I grab a 44 I always use the G/R..Im getting lazy and habitual :) Good luck
API's, OSA's, BA cards are about 500ish and are high end enough[IMHO]..just get a lunchbox and load it up as you go..Add EQ and compresser cards also..if you can't get sh*t done with that rig...http://www.mercenary.com/api.html
