Try Panning effects send your reverb returns or other ambience induceing effect opposite your main track and try doing it in mono or equing the reverb to make it duller (or brighter than the source track) get creative if it sound good it works just make sure its mono compatable whatever the case.

Tape didn't some studios use to vari speed the tape machine to get a brighter sound?
