    Need a USB audio interface

Ethan - Thanks for the reply. I just talked to the Sonar tech support and they suggested the 8i6 also. I use Sonar as a MIDI sequencer, driving softsynths for my backing orchestration. I record to a Tascam DP-24 and would like to have a stereo track for the finished backing and additional...

    Need a USB audio interface

Thanks for the replies. Most of these are within my budget but when shopping for them, many are listed as "discontinued". Also, some have pretty bad reviews. Musicians Friend has 4 F.T. Ultras in stock but are used and listed as "Needs repair". The Tascam US-200 sounds like a good choice but...

    Tascam DP-24

The last 6 channels are "stereo" and are automatically panned full left and right. I don't know if there's a way to adjust the balance. - Bill

    Need a USB audio interface

I bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro because the box said it had 4 outputs. Unfortunately I didn't do my homework. When I got it home I found out it only has 2 analog outputs. The other two are S/PDIF. I need to be able to output 2 discrete stereo signals from Sonar. Anybody know of an...

    DP-24 MIDI sync not working

Thanks for the reply. I have been working with the DP-24 clock for my arrangements that do not have any tempo changes. So far, it's not working well. Sonar keeps freezing. BTW I did apply the 1.02 ugrade. Still no external clock function. I do have a couple other options (maybe). I'm...

    DP-24 MIDI sync not working

Tech Support answer - The external clock feature has been removed from the DP24. You can no longer record in slave mode like you could with the 2488. Bummer. That means that my complex MIDI files with tempo changes are useless. When recording in master mode, the DP24 has only one clock...

    DP-24 MIDI sync not working

I am trying to record discrete tracks via MIDI and computer softsynths with several syncronized passes. I used to do this with my 2488 and Sonar8.5. I had a procedure written down for the 2488 but lost it in the flood. With the 2488 I was able to set the clock source as "external" so when...

    Learning the DP24

It was a fairly easy project. A sheet of 3/4" melamine from Lowes along with a quarter sheet of beadboard, 2 pair of casters and a couple dozen deck screws. I may paint the raw edges of the melamine someday (and maybe I won't). One thing that doesn't show up well in the photo is the slope of...

    Learning the DP24

Still working on my first tracks but will post something when done. In the mean time, here's a little roll-around stand I made for my DP24. Makes it more convenient to setup for a session. - Bill

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

I used Fostex monitors with my 2488 and there was an on/off switch on each one. Only turned them on when checking a take or mix. Eventually I didn't use them at all. I couldn't imagine using them while recording - feedback etc. But then, I record in my livingroom with the DP24 sitting on the...

    Learning the DP24

Did my first mixdown and like the new feature of setting the start point. The 2488 always started at 00 and went to the end-mark. Also like that the master is a stereo wav file that does NOT have to be exported. It's available on the SD card. Just USB it or copy & paste from the card. I may...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Thanks - I just realized that I haven't created a Master yet. Explains why I couldn't find one. Now hopefully it will be a stereo wav file. Otherwise I'll have to resort to the old process of exporting left and right wav files and pasting them back together with CoolEdit or Audacity. (pain...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

I agree with SteveAlton - But I had a different incentive. I was using a 2488 Mk1 ever since it's release. Lost it in the September floods and had to replace (upgrade). I was not interested in a used one so my choices were a Neo at $799 or a DP24 at $699. The price difference was an...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Sounds like the 2488 - however, I do my mastering on a PC so I need a way to get the master tracks over, preferrably by USB. With the 2488, it was necessary to clone the master tracks to a pair of live channels then export from there. I was hoping that the DP24 master tracks would be directly...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

I haven't done any mastering yet. Where does the DP24 put the master tracks? The manual isn't clear. With the 2488 the master tracks had to be cloned to live tracks before they could be exported. Hopefully that's no longer needed. Thanks - Bill

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

My only complaint with all the digital recorders is no way to tell which tracks have something recorded. You have to play it to see which tracks are empty. The solution, of course, is to make good notes on a tracksheet. Here is my version, if anybody's intersted...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Commercial CD import: It worked fine. Will save me tons of time. Hit the CD button - put a CD in the tray - select import track and 15 seconds later the stereo track is in the Audio Depot folder. Then create a new song and import the track from the folder.

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

One of the greatest new features is automatic save. About a year ago I was recording a cello track with a girl who was having trouble playing in tune. After a couple hours and 3 to 4 takes, she finally nailed it. Even though I had used my 2488 for a couple years, I absent mindedly reached...

    DP-24 - I love it (so far)

Yay for those who use pre-recorded tracks to start. In the past, I had to record directly from a CD player or iPod. I just used the "Import" function on the new DP24. First I ripped a track from a commercial CD, then using CoolEdit2000, I split the tracks to left/right mono wav's. Finally I...
