    DP-24 CR-RW won't erase

I'm using Memorex 12x CD-RW for test albums. I can do a disk-at-once burn which works fine. Then the next time, I do a CD Erase first which claims to be sucessful, however, when I try to burn a new copy, I get "No room on CD". Taking the CD back to my PC (Win-7) it recognizes it as a blank...

    DP-24 Archiving Technique?

Did some homework. According to pg 80 in the manual, you can copy and restore entire songs simply by copying the "song" folder on the SD card. You can also delete entire songs the same way. The only restriction seems to be the "master" file which cannot be restored. It appears that these...

    DP-24 Archiving Technique?

The manual shows how to create and erase projects but doesn't mention archiving. Eventually my SD card will fill up and I'd like to clear off finished projects, but would like to keep a copy around in case I decide to revisit a project in the future. The 2488 had a backup bundling and restore...

    DP-24 Carrying Case?

Ouch - pricy. I'm hoping to find a cloth version that's a good bit cheaper. Probably need something in the US for more affordable shipping costs. Thanks - Bill

    DP-24 Carrying Case?

Has anybody found a good gig bag for the DP-24? Roc-Sack used to make a perfect one for the 2488 but can't seem to find them anymore. Thanks - Bill

    DP-24 Slave Sync (DP-32?)

Did my homework. The Scarlett 8i6 has only 4 analog outputs, not 6. But the good news is, that's all I need. And additionally, it seems that the Cakewalk people recommend the 8i6 as most compatible with Sonar X1.

    DP-24 Slave Sync (DP-32?)

Thanks for checking. I used a 2488 for years but lost it in the 2011 floods. Guess my backup will be to find an audio interface that supports more than 2 analog outputs. Anybody have experience with the Scarlett 8i6? And does it really have 6 analog outputs? I was tricked into buying a Fast...

    DP-24 Track Sheet

This is a link to my latest version of the track sheet I use. Originally designed for the 2488, I modified it a bit for the DP-24. I may do one for the DP-32 if I can find a reason to buy one. If anybody would like an Excel copy of the sheet so you can modify it, send me a message. Regards -...

    DP-24 Slave Sync (DP-32?)

I'm guessing there are no plans to upgrade the DP-24 to restore the MIDI slave sync that was in the 2488. I wonder if the DP-32 will have that very important (to me) function? Bill

    DP-24 New Thread

Well sorta. The DP-24 does not support external clock sync (slave mode). So you have to use the DP-24 clock which will not recognize any tempo changes from your drum machine.

    DP-24 New Thread

I've been using PNY 8gb Professional. (class 10). On sale for $15 at Staples. Have done several recording sessions with no problems. Had one glitch as mentioned above, but that turned out to be my own doing. It seems I hit rewind before the DP24 finished writing the recorded track to the SD...

    DP-24 problems / issues

Yep - That's the issue. I plugged the mic in and tested to confirm it was dead. (making sure it was a powered mic). Then turned the phantom power on. Mic came alive. Then I turned the phantom off and continued to test. The mic worked for another 15 - 20 seconds before going dead. Lesson =...

    DP-24 New Thread

They both have positives and negatives. I miss the MIDI slave sync of the 2488. I've had to change my whole way of producing because of that. But there are many significant improvements, like using WAV format for internal recording. No more 20 minute conversion runs before the mix could be...

    DP-24 New Thread

Yep - installed 1.02 as soon as it was released. The problem does seem to be an isolated occurrance. I deleted my tracks and started over again. So far I have 10 tracks recorded and no issues. I have a suspicion that I may have caused the error. Coming from a 2488, I have a tendancy to hit...

    DP-24 problems / issues

I noticed one issue that does not seem to be fixed in the latest update. When hitting the Phantom button a second time to turn the 48v off before unplugging, the Phantom light goes off but power is NOT removed. The mic still works indicating power is still on. - Bill

    DP-24 New Thread

17 pages is way too much to wade through, so here's a new DP-24 thread. I'll start out with my first major glitch. I had 4 tracks complete and added a bass line using input H with guitar selected. Sounded great. Then I decided to add an acoustic guitar track using a mic on input A with...

Is my DP 24 supposed to be noisy?

I use Shure SRH440 headphones. Nice and quiet. About $100 at Musician's Friend.

    Starting again

Lost my PC in a flood last year (house too). I sent the hard drive to Seagate (via Staples) and they were able to recover all the data. It wasn't cheap ($1500) but for me it was worth it. Had some recordings on there from the 1960's that had recently been transferred from tape.

    Need a USB audio interface

<<why not just record everything into SONAR?>> I've used a standalone recorder for years. Tascam 8-track (tape), Fostex VF-16, Tascam 2488 and now a Tascam DP-24. Much more portable than a PC or laptop with external audio interface etc. But the real reason is the painful learning curve. I...

    DP-24 clone master track?

Cloning is no longer necessary. The mastered stereo track is available on the SD card as a standalone wav file. To bring it back to an empty stereo track, you'd have to copy it to the Audio Depot folder and import from there. Correct: can't be done without a computer. The good news is you...
