Richie- Wasn't trying to drag you into this, just referencing your comment about the C4 being one of the best mics at that price point. The Behris are at a different price point. My opinion is that they're not really competitors-the B5 and the 603 might be, though....

Possible problem with the phantom power supply on the board...I KNOW this is a stupid question, but did you make sure the phantom power was switched on the 2nd time? If it was, you may want to have the phantom power checked.....the dynamics will work regardless of the phantom power...

So are glowing reviews of Studio Projects mics. Just to keep things fair and balanced...I wouldn't want anyone to mistake you for one of our more rational posters. And you were doing so well for so long...musta run out of meds again, huh?

On "Day For Change", the drums need something...compression, eq....I can't tell exactly what to do there. They're just kind hiding back there-that snare should jump out a little more. Overheads sound OK, maybe a little hot. Guitar sounds good, maybe lacking a little "bite". Bass needs to come...

Another mix for critique! Another tune from a band recording a CD in my studio. I've used a lot of the suggestions I got on the mix I posted of a different tune last month...hopefully this one will be relatively "tweak-free" at this point...but if I REALLY believed that, I wouldn't be posting...

In a lot of cases, the folks at GC will let you take the mics into one of their "little" rroms with the decent pres and amps. They're not soundproof, but they'll certainly cu down the amount of background noise, and keep the EVH wannabes from screwing up the baseline for your tests. I know when...

They had 4 Avalon 737's, 3 U87ai's, and couple of 414's, and several 58's and 57's. A bunch of boards and external processors. The Avalons went for about $1700-$1800 each, the U87's for about $1400-$1500 each. No real bargains....

Yep. Sonixx makes some great points in his post, as well. Do a search of the mic forum using the key words "Harvey Gerst", and look for the thread where Harvey talks about how to do a quick-and-dirty mic match while you're at a store. Print the thread and put it in your pocket. Go back to GC...
