Napalm Beach - Greg's summertime fun in the dead of winter

Hey there buddy, finally found time to log in here again.... As usual, classic Greg! I hear great detail given to melody this time though. Sure, it's your rough and rugged style but it just sounds so musically complete. Is there anything I can say to the quality of the sound? Nope absolutely...

Who am I ripping off? (36 second clip)

errm...Beethoven's 9th? Nah, inspiration's a good thing, bro. Just record it and enjoy it, it's not as if you're gonna do a "My Sweet lord" with it... ;)

    Economix Terrorism! DEATH METAL!!!

Wow, you hit the genre right on the head with Thor's hammer, Phil! Yeah the voice is a bit too in front, try to sink it further in the mix, maybe with a very short room reverb or something. Brutal and good!

    Factory Joe

Hey you wrote a song about me...!:D Pretty nice song, I totally dig the Beatles-like melody and the voices. Some timing hitches here and there, I would try to fix those. The guitars have the kind of distortion on the Beatles Revolution, I think they fit pretty well. The drums could sound...

    Joey's version of Marillion's "Kayleigh"

Hey Pete, yeah Marillion weren't exactly a heavy metal band, so I thought I'd spruce it up a little. :D To me they will always remain a Genesis copy. Kayleigh was their only world-wide single hit in nineteeneightysomething, but otherwise they were just big in Europe. Thanx for the comments! ;)

    New mix sans vocals

Gotta agree with Pixel, sounds very mono with those guitars in the middle. Yeah, the snare could use less compression to bring it more to life. Guitars sound OK for this style, how did you record them? Doesn't matter who it sounds like, just do it.

    Joey's version of Marillion's "Kayleigh"

Yeah, my wife's crazy about him and he's actually a big fan of Malta. He'll be playing there this summer again like for the 3rd time or something. On the whole I always found Marillion a bit boring, but I think Misplaced Childhood is pretty good. What??? Greg didn't treat you to a Texan...

    How's my acoustic guitar tone?

You really are experimenting with a lot of different styles lately, Phil. Keeping an open mind is a good thing. Pretty nice tune you got here. I thought the acoustic sounded real good, nice and full. Like the guys said, just roll of a bit of those lows and it's good to go. Nice singing too.

    I had a cold......

not a great singer...yeah sure, who's buying that.....:p:D I love it, it's raw, the guitars sound mean, your drumming's fantastic and the harmonies and arrangement are great. I don't hear anything that jumps out at me mixwise. And that guitar riff is soooooooo damn groovy! Another great song!

Hey there, bro! Here's a new mix: Kayleigh_2_mp3.mp3 - File Shared from Box - Free Online File Storage This one should sound a bit more homogenic (whatever that means....) I heard you and our mutual scottish friend had some fun time down where you are....wish I'd been there...

    Joey's version of Marillion's "Kayleigh"

Yeah, my Kayleigh loved it, Ray.:) Actually I'm gonna let the guys in my band have a go at the solo, 'cos we'll probably be including this in our set. But I am quite happy with the way mine turned out. Thanx for the comments!
