    1/2" reels?

Re: You'll have to look at the spec card, if any, that's included with the reel. I have NO clue what OVU readings are or whatever. i'm completely clueless in this analogue stuff lmao! But no, I haven't really gotten a chance to a/b any tapes at all. All i've used is the 456 (and MAYBE one...

    Consumer sound cards?

You're referring to the separate rigs for separate uses?

    I'll acknowledge that one. :)

    Line 6 Variax

I agree. and also... Please, i hope to freaking GOD that they release a fixed-bridge version as well. I don't think I'd buy a tremolo model, or at least, as a first choice... Just a personal preference. :) But I like that body WAY more than the Variax that's out currently. The finish was...

    1/2" reels?

Hmm... I found some 767 tape that's dirt-cheap. I'm guessing that's not compatible in the least with the 456... or am i wrong in this? Edit: It's Ampex 767, forgot to mention that.

    small 'computer speaker' monitors

I'd say that these were exactly opposite of what you're looking for in a pair of monitors.

    small 'computer speaker' monitors

Hmm... I just registered on the forum, and these things look REALLY interesting. For those who have built and/or use them, are they actually DECENT reference monitors for mixing/tracking on?

    Auction: PRO Studio selling everything

wow. lame. What's wrong with using regular ebay, seriously?

    1/2" reels?

my thoughts exactly. I would love to buy a ton of reels of tapes for that cheap. If someone can hook me up with a good price on a few 10.5" half-inch 456 tape NEW, i'd be interested in getting a bunch of 'em. our stock in the studio is wearing thin.

    Laptop Soundcard Query

wow. not bad at all. I was unaware of this goodie. I like the looks of it, really. And yeah, i'm curious on the latency of it. I'm sure it's tolerable however. What it looks like to me is basically the recording front-end of a high-quality MD recorder. Honestly.

    Consumer sound cards?

I know that *some* games work with the prosumer shit, but i'd rather not deal with the hassles. I'd just rather have a consumer card in my personal rig, and have a recording rig without ANY personal software shit on it, and leave it for recording only. seems the smarter way to go in the long...

    Laptop Soundcard Query

I was planning on creating a thread similar to this in the next week or so, so I'll conglomerate it here... Same deal here, although working on a project to create a small start-up project for recording live shows for bands around town. I'd *like* an 8-channel interface (in the long run), but...

    Consumer sound cards?

Yeah, I know that the ASIO support is only in the higher-end sb cards, but i'd rather get a consumer card for my personal rig than an audiophile or prosumer gear simply because a lot of my personal use is for gaming, mp3s, movies, and other oddball personal use. But i *AM* going to be buying a...

    Consumer sound cards?

No, i wasn't waiting for WDM drivers because for one, i don't have an SB card currently (shitty onboard AC97-powered setup. gag me with a wooden spoon). That, and I don't use Sonar. :P and from what I'd heard, the DMAN issue wasn't hardware-based, but instead revolved around the guy who coded...

    Line 6 Variax

Hahaha... If I were a violent person, i'd suggest a punch in the face for that one... But... I think i'll make an exception this time. :P j/k, of course. However... I do like the name "Chameleon" for a modelling guitar. I wouldn't doubt one to be named that. And I hadn't heard that the...

50 cent vocals, Home Or Studio?

flow like Ako Mack and Emerg from Bionic Jive, and I will be impressed. :)

    Consumer sound cards?

No. I *DEFINITELY* think not. I bought a Midiman DMAN 2044 off of a user here, and they support that card so nicely that there weren't any drivers for anything past Windows 98. Great support there. you can STILL get an oldschool SB16 to work on WinXP and Win2k. After the DMAN issue, i'm not...

    8ch A/D-D/A, mic pres, ADAT, $249

I agree with all the people who say bashing behringer isn't cool. I mean, they do what they do great! And what they do is make cheap gear that performs. Passibly. For those who don't know the difference. Some people don't care. I used to be all about the Mackie 1604s, but now i wouldn't...

    Consumer sound cards?

so far, the only real advantage the Revolution has over the Audigy 2 Platinum is it's ASIO resolution. and that's it, really. It doesn't have any digital in, either.
