Re: NSKIT
The NSKit is one of the three sets i downloaded before my 8-month-long hiatus from the internet. I used these, mixed with an "acoustica" kit, and an electronic-type kit all in combination to create various drumtracks.
Go listen to my drums in these two songs. The...
I disagree with the use of eq to remove "coloration" from reference monitors... I just think that they were made a certain way and that's the best way. But that's my opinion. I could be (and most likely am) wrong.
But i *DO* agree with not using a sub. unless you have a REALLY nice pro...
somewhat similar to WDM if i remember correctly. just, higher quality, allows for higher sampling rates, and works with more hardware (???). also allows for lower latency, I think.
if i'm off-base, let me know.
headphones are made to make things sound bigger and boomier, basically. or, well, most are. there ARE reference headphones that cost a crapload, but they're designed as a secondary or thirdary form of referencing your mix.
But yes, when you're contemplating putting your mix down as a...
nice to see another forumer recognizing the beauty of Breedloves.
Jay Howlett and I were talking after the last show i saw them at, and he was saying that the Breedlove 12-strings are the best sounding, best-playing 12-strings he'd EVER seen and heard. And from what I heard from his and...
These look rather interesting.... I'm scared of buying a set of monitors with eq like that in it though... i mean... i'm sure i'd fuck up my sound somehow lmao...
I don't doubt it's been being used for quite a while. Why else would Yamaha make one? lol... but I'd heard of a concept like this before, not relating to drum mic'ing before, i don't remember when. It's only been now that i've been paying attention enough to really like the idea.
That, and...
i enjoy CubaseVST/32 quite much. haven't played with Cubase SX yet, but i like Cubase a lot. i HATED the cakewalk programs (too weird for me), and I enjoyed N-Track quite a bit, but I'd have to choose CubaseVST as my pick right now.
I wish I had some spare speakers and drumshells laying around. I may be able to find some, but i'm just incredibly curious on this whole concept from a tech. standpoint, mainly. I realize it won't sound as great as a d112 or a 421, duh, but still. i like the theory. :)
whoa. this mixer/splitter is EXACTLY what i was thinking about last night... Anyone else make something like this? Preferably with digital in/out like the Beh?
hmm.... a lot of good points here about the mic/piezo/whatever methods... true, even with a blender you're not going to get an "authentic" sound, but... I saw Chuck McCabe and Jay Howlett here in town and they were both playing Breedlove guitars running this way, with the dual mic/pickup...
the one thing i've been wanting VERY badly in my rig. COMPRESSION! I need a compressor like freaking mad.
Other than that... depending on what you play, a chorus, bass wah (doubles as an eq if you like), and some sort of subharmonic bass enhancer (if you're into that "uber-heavy" bass...
Oooh... sexy. What'd be the thoughts behind putting a 10" or even larger in there? Would that just completely destroy the clarity, or make it more sensative, or just give a weaker signal because the cone won't move as much?
Thoughts on a 15" or 18" in a large kickdrum shell? LMAO!
I...
Hmm... Really now. I had figured that it was just the same sort of output as on a DVD player or on a digital satellite box, which i know you can get dolby digital off of a dvd player. My bad. *shrug*
Working with an oldschool TAC Scorpion 16 channel console, and wanting to get a better sound than what the pres in the channel strips offer, and I don't honestly know what would begin to be an improvement over these pres, what'd be a waste of money, etc etc. I'm just not really happy with the...
Thanks for the answer, and it's a bummer, 'cause I don't have monitors in the first place, and don't have much cash at the moment for monitors (and yes, i completely understand i get what i pay for haha), i'm just looking for something that's "functional" as monitors. I may just build a pair...
