    Question about recording acoustic guitar.

Agreed, good technique is key to making a great acoustic guitar recording. I have recorded ac guitar for some time now and I'm never completely happy with my performances, it's hard. Tommy Emmanuel said when asked if a certain technique is hard and he said "yes, It's like trying to put...

    Next piece of gear?

The best bang for the buck improvement for my studio was acoustic treatment. Bass traps and absorption panels. You'll never know how good your recordings and mixes can sound until you do it in a treated room and you can find everything you need to do it yourself on this forum. A SM57 is a good...

Some summing, do you think this could help?

Great advice guys I'll put it to task. Now I have some work to do.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my tracks and for your advice. I agree that percussion is a weak link so I just started using BFD and I think with some work I'll get an acceptable sound. It will have to do for now anyway. All the stuff on Reverbnation was mixed using Session Drummer...

Some summing, do you think this could help?

Good observation Bouldersoundguy. The drum reverb is different from the rest of the tracks. I am using BFD drummer as I don't have the space for a real drummer and I agree it would be a bump up Mixsit if it were real drums. The drum mix was done within BFD so maybe I'll try routing them into my...

Some summing, do you think this could help?

Thank you all for your thoughts on this. Dbox is out of the question at this point since it's so transparent but I don't have the money or the space for a console. Ethan you have unknowingly been a big help to me for some time now. I did all the acoustic treatment in my room with the help of...

    Bus Stop, lots of guitar

Thanks guys I will work on the vocal. It got left behind as I added guitar tracks.

how does this rough mix sound ?

I like the song, especially the vocal tracks. Next time I would focus on making the backing tracks sound better especially those in the intro. Bass is full but Hi Fi it up a bit with the other instruments. IMHO. I am not a hip hop artist and I like it.

    Bus Stop, lots of guitar

This is a mix in progress for your critique. It feels a little disjointed to me in parts and I know it's long. This was mixed in the box and I'm wondering if anyone has advice on some summing mixers??: Here is a new mix based on some previous comments...

Thanks Massive, you have just upped the ante though. Have you tried any of the Phoenix Audio gear?

Some summing, do you think this could help?

I am looking to improve my sound (who here isn't) and could use some advice as I'm considering adding a summing mixer. My mixes are clean and clear sounding but they lack the bigger sound I have experienced when recording in larger studios with nice expensive consoles. I record most of my...

Defective (I ripped off Heatmiser's title!!!)

Love it! Funky rockin' good fun. I really like the extra measures of tasty licks, use to call it fusion. Mix was clear and solid.

I've never been completely satisfied with my bass sound. let me know if you have any advice on what frequencies to cut or boost. by the way I just got back an Oktava mkl 2500 that was modded by Michael Jolly which is what I used on the vocals. the used to mic and modification cost about $600.

Yes guilty as charged with busy drums and long chorus. Someone else also mentioned that they didn't think the bridge fit the song. I'll see what I can do about it. Lt. Bob, yes this song is loud as I ran it through mastering software. I posted the same song last night as a pure mix and it was...

Ok, without any recommendations I remixed and bumped up the levels with mastering software. I noticed that nearly all the other songs posted were much louder than mine. I won't re-post this song but I would like some feedback, good, bad or indifferent. Paul

    Is this epic?

I love the song and really like your acoustic guitar sound. I think I heard a banjo part back in the mix washed in a decent amount of reverb and would have liked to hear that a little clearer. Someone else said something about the drums, the snare in particular which I agree could be tweaked...
