    Scooped a Revox A-77

On cursory inspection, everything seems tickety-boo. The heads are in good shape, showing a little wear. The wear is very even and doesn't concern me. All mechanics work fine .............except for one teeny little thing. The left hand takeup reel assembly makes this rizzy sound, like a bad...

    Scooped a Revox A-77

A pal in Toronto gave me a Revox A-77 to use as a mix down deck. Anyone know anything about these machines? I seem to remember good things. Oh Great Purveyors of Analog, humble me with you collective wisdom!

    Decided to go Duo.

I'd be interested in how it goes. My wife and I are thinking of trying a duo. We'd do just our own stuff. She'd switch between bass and acoustic with me playing electric, acoustic and lapsteel. She sings like an angel and I sing like an ex-drunken smoker.

How come I can't "insert" my compressor?

Crank up the output and input of the comp a bit. If not check your insert cables. What are your comp settings?

So.... You Think You Own a "Vintage Guitar", eh?

Great post Jimi. I like you, I play a '64 Strat that I bought for $300 CDN at Powels Music and Luggage in 1976. He didn't even have it out on display as he thought it "wouldn't move very fast". Since then I have played (and still do) the shit out of that guitar. Three fret jobs, two volume pots...

    5050 QXH speed issue

You might try cleaning the pop-up switch/pot for the vari-speed control. Spray the crap out of it but keep it wraped with a rag so the spray says in the pot and not anywhere else. Might work. Worth a shot.

Is the Fender Squier that Bad?

A lot of info here. My opinion is that it varies alot. I've played some real nice Squires and some real stinkers. Keep shopping. Something will turn up.

Where are the tweakers on a Teac A-3304S?

Sorry, but that's a negative. I have nothing but good things to say about my 3340 and 3440. If you're not getting good results then something is amiss.

    rusty strings

Keep you axe in the case and wipe it down after use. I used to use Finger-Ease and it seemed to work.

    Fretbuzz on my Melody Maker...help?

Tune it up to concert and sight down the neck. Is it straight or does it have a little "relief". You might need a truss rod tweak.

    difference between neck shapes?

I have played some old (30's and 40's) acoustics that had necks that were really vee'ed. They felt strange but comfortable.
