    H. Weissenborn Parlor Acoustic Guitar

That's very cool. Heirloom guitar's rule. Yep, and it would've had steel strings.

    I'm building a new guitar

Not much progress here lately. Regress actually. I made the mistake of leaving the double cut guitar hanging in the shop overnight. I think the cold temperature caused some cracks in the finish. It's not the end of the world. I'll have to sand it back, re-coat the guitar top, then wait for it to...

Les Paul Junior group build thread : Tools

An excellent list, nice description. I really can't think of much to add for the basics, but there are a few things that come to mind. On the measuring tools I'd add an adjustable protractor, and for the marking tools, maybe a set of french curves, and a carpenter's scribe. It's also handy to...

Les Paul Junior group build thread : Outline and the way forward.

Parts Breakdown I want to supply links, and info, so I think the easiest way to do this is to break it down item by item. 1. I went over the lumber at the beginning of the thread so I'll only suggest some sources now. An ebay search for body blank material...

Good riddance to that assclown. It didn't take long to see through that alias, but he went down fighting like a true battle troll. My tuners arrived today, and I'll order the balance of the parts this weekend. After that I'll compile a parts list with the prices I paid on my end so that those...

    A Rare Guitar

Rugby socks :laughings: I live in the middle of the Mojave Desert, and wear shorts probably about 350 days a year. That's not me in the guitar case picture, but I took that picture while wearing shorts, and ankle socks. (white ones) I used to think they were odd, but I've grown to accept them...

The bridge showed up today in an air packet to my complete surprise. I ordered it on 2/24. Ten days ago. I've never had anything arrive so quickly from China.

Noisless pickups in jazz bass humming during recording

I fully agree. You started at the guitar. He mentioned that it was ok through his amp, so I started with his signal chain. No big deal, same concept, different approach. Unbalanced signal = Noise

He said it was fine through an amp. No noise.

More wardrobe comments... I have to come to the defense of ankle socks. Tube socks look weird with shorts. Unless you're from Texas or Oklahoma. There it's pretty normal, but you can't see them because of the cowboy boots. I had an Applause 12 string that recorded really well...

Isn't it common on these to tune a half step down, and use a capo?

That's a good idea. I took a few, but it wouldn't hurt to get some more along with measurements. I don't normally post pictures of other peoples stuff that lands on my bench, but this was so out of the ordinary I had to share.
