guitar amp is loud, inputs cranked (Profire 610)... track still too quiet!

+1 this is what I was thinking when he said he just barely had them on and the monitors were feeding back, Not sure if you have a rewire mixer, but you should have some kind of direct back console that feeds your monitors, you can turn it down there, or your main out of the IA if it has that...

Neumann TLM 102 vs. Neumann TLM 103 vs. AKG C 414

that's the one thing I do like about the TLM103.. I also like the AT4047 for the same reason, it does a very good job on acoustic guitars.

I'm a decent guitarist - but a BAD keyboard player - need advice re: midi controllers

I think you can bypass the "touch" response in almost every midi type keyboard. It will still feel weighted but it responds differently. I bought the cheapest thing I could find for a midi controller keyboard, a used casio wk1500 for $50.00 , funny thing is, I have used this keyboard for...

    Multiple Automation Tracks?

I love automation too. Use it all the time but, when I'm working with levels , or pans, I don't need to see every bit of all automation up there.. I do effects auto, and eq auto, and pan auto, level auto.. I still like to work within one area and not confuse myself (because I have done this...

Mix check - We Can Do Anything

imho, the main rh guitar (strumming) needs a little more air, and needs to sit back in the mix just a bit, I think it would open up the mix more and allow the bass to come through. I love the song though. Nice laid back vocals very smooth

    Mics recommendations plz

I take it your FOH is stereo, and has the quality to bring out the distinction of these different mic's and mic'n techniques. In a room that would allow this to brought to the listeners ears? from what I've found, most of the time you run stereo through a PA and hard pan anything, one half...

    Multiple Automation Tracks?

not sure what you mean, multiple automation tracks like the volume, panning, effects, for one track all at once ? or several tracks with their automation up at once? I do several tracks at once, doing their volumes, then panning (if needed). I have not found a way to get on track to...

I'm a decent guitarist - but a BAD keyboard player - need advice re: midi controllers

sounds to me like you may might have some latency issues when recording you midi. good or bad midi controllers are really going to change the timing issues. I use a real old casio keyboard as my controller. You just need to have some patients, keep working at it, and research your DAW and...

Neumann TLM 102 vs. Neumann TLM 103 vs. AKG C 414

I've used the c414 on vocals, acoustic guitars, amp cabinets, I was pleased with the c414 bxl on my vocals. c414 bxl into a UA 6176 with mild compression. motu hd192, g5 mac, logic pro, no post eq , it sounded pretty good considering the room wasn't very good.

AKG C414 vs Neumann tlm 102

i ran both of these mics through the same interface, same set up, for my voice I liked the c414 over the tlm 102, but I have a heavy low mid voice.. the c414 was very smooth and neutral, while the tlm102 had kind of a high mid peak I didn't really like.......... on another note, after that...

I need an opinion from a real pro! Please help me with a preamp

it all is up to you really, any of the combinations you presented would do a good job, I like the warm colorization of the UA stuff, and yes I would probably use the mild compression on a universal Audio preamp or stand alone compressor, but I like them others don't. If you have the options...

I need an opinion from a real pro! Please help me with a preamp

if you can borrow the Avalon, while not my favorite, they are usually very pristine, quality sound, should do a good job on both vocals and guitar. While the u87 should work well with your voice (providing you have your room, and mic area treated correctly). You could probably get an ok guitar...

    record real guitar through cubase?

copied off of a youtube video of a guy playing through his daw with the same amp. "Pretty straightforward really, when the Vypyr is plugged in via usb it should show up as its own sound card, mine showed as Vypyr 75 but has also showed up as USB Audio Device as well. When setting up your...
